Update on the 400 gal in Polson

My ai sol will probably run at 30-50% power plus the sunrise and sunset so Im guessing my power ussage will be around 20-35 watts during the day.

Update on the 400 gal in Polson

Thanks for the write up. Part of my plan was to keep my system low powered. Im running a small return pump with vortech mp10 for flow in conjuction with low powered needle wheel skimmer and led lighting. The lower power consumption the cheaper monthly costs and it will allow my back- up ups to...

Update on the 400 gal in Polson

Very impressive system you have there. Im at work now dying to get home so I can open up my ai sol super blue and apex system which came in the mail today. I would love to hear your experiences with the ai sols.

    My new Nano

That would be great. I know what you mean about trying to decide what tank to put money into. I have someone in Kalispell who wants to trade a year old BC 29 gal for my 58 oceanic setup, but I already have 3 tanks now so I don't really need another one. I keep thinking about how a BC 29 would...

    Cool, looking forward to it.

    WIP - 40 Breeder

I need to drill my ADA tank. I'm debating whether to it myself or ask Montana glass to do it. I just want to make sure this tank is done right. Its too pretty and too new to break it now :-)

    Interest in Missoula Reef Club?

I saw there was a good amount of people on the list now. Are we planning to get the ball rolling on this, or is it an abandoned idea?

    My 300 Gallon sps tank

Ya, I read through yours and Devin's thread. I wasn't trying to impose anything or claim I'm super knowledgable. I just like to constantly try new things. I also beleive leaving a system alone is the best thing you can do for it. Some people used to call refugiums algae scrubbers. The concept...

    My new Nano

My Mp10 and sump arrived today. Most of the other stuff is supposed to come next Tuesday. So far I really love the sump. It is actually slightly larger than my display which is kind of funny, but it should give me lots of room to build an Algae scrubber into. It is so nice and shiny I almost...

    My 300 Gallon sps tank

Woops didn't realize my first post went through. Just to clarify though, I love the hardware as much or more than the livestock. For me most of the fun is setting up a new tank. I've probably had 20 or more tanks with longest one set up for probably only 2 years. I actually bought about 5...

    My 300 Gallon sps tank

The tank I have now has been set up for a few months (58 gallon). I had an 8 gallon nano set up this past year. I could not keep a tank while I was at college, but before that I had one all the way through highschool (2 years because I graduated at 15) and took it with me to Montana where I had...

    My new Nano

Hopefully I can start setting it up in about two weeks. I had thought to wait for AI phoenix lights but decided to just go ahead and get the sol. I jjst hope I don't regret it. I still have to drill the tank and build the stand which could set me back time wise. The glass hole guys are out till...

    My 300 Gallon sps tank

Sorry. I'm not suggesting anything for anyone specifically. I just saw several people complaining about nuisance algae so I recommended looking into turf scrubbers is all. I understand the benefits of bare bottom. I am considering doing it for myself in my nano that Im putting together. Sorry if...

    My 300 Gallon sps tank

I beleive skimmers work great as well. That is why they sell. I was merely suggesting a great alternative to removing nuisance algae. I myself have little experience with them, but I spent roughly 8 hours every day researching this hobby since I work a night time security job :-) My tanks hardly...

    My 300 Gallon sps tank

Not really. Just tons of research on them. The concept has been around forever, and an algae turf scrubber works great so long as you remove the algae at the right time. I learned most of my info from Algae Scrubbers • Index page. If you wait to long the algae dies and the bad stuff goes back...

    My new Nano

So ive been going crazy lately and am building up a super high tech nano. I got an ADA 60-p rimless starphire tank (17.4) gallons, a vortech mp10es, a neptune apex, breakout box, probes, an aqua allumination sol super blue led light, an eshopps deluxe 24 gallon sump, a battery backup unit, some...

    My 300 Gallon sps tank

You guys should look into algae turf scrubbers. They work much better than protein skimmers at removing nuisance algae.

    Vertex Illumina LED

I have been looking at the AI Sol units because I wanted to do storms as well. I may wait it out though, because they are being replace by their new Pheonix unit which is supposed to be better and wireless capable. Whatever I get, I want to be able to control it with an Apex unit.

GU10 Led light bulbs and other cool things/thoughts

Thanks for the kind words. I was basically thinking out loud lol, I think it helps with my process. My tank is actually very gorgeous right now and I don't have much to complain about really except for my very loud protein skimmer. I turned it off this morning and my tank is so much more...

GU10 Led light bulbs and other cool things/thoughts

I transported the live rock in a large cooler submersed in water, so I dont think there was any die off. I did cut a few rocks so that they would stand up, which could have caused some die off though. My water parameters are good according to my API kit so I haven't really done any water...
