    January Get Together

Mr. Nana is a wee bit good at taking pics, I am sure they'll be great. I have to thank you all for talking to him about tank stands and plumbing. He will be a wee busy tomorrow at Home Depot. He is WeeLighted! (too much?) heh heh :)

    Show off your clownfish!

Thanks! Just trying to figure out the camera. :) @Twiggy- I love the slight miss-bar on your male. How did you get them to stay still to get such clear shots?

    Show off your clownfish!

I was trying to get as close as possible a shot without a macro lens ( which I don't have anyway) and thought this one was about as close as I could get. The babies were from three hatches, born august and september 2010, and are now most are 1/2 inch long. I combined the hatches a few months...

    January Get Together

What a stupendous meeting! I learned a lot, and it was great meeting all attending fellow NSRs. You are all very nice! (shocking, I know!) :) I was thinking...if I hosted a meeting, maybe we could do a "hands-on plumbing install with all the frills" get-together for my new tank? You all have...

    Help ID my snail please

You guys are all very helpful! And Todd, why yes, i would love a few snails. If they are the same type as mine, possibly there'll be a Mrs. in the bunch. See you at the meeting!

    Who's planning to attend SEAMAX?

We are usually in Westport that time of year. If the weather is windy on the coast that weekend, I will definitely be at the Expo!

If that blue thing is coming, I guess I'll have to make a double batch.... lol :)

    Help ID my snail please

This tank I found him in is BB and I only see him on the rockwork very rarely since he hides all day. He is either a very unhappy Nassarius or a Strombus afraid of the glass. I will pop him into the sandbed tank next time I see him and see if he appears happier... might need counseling... lol

Very pretty bird! But, no, I don't have one. The last bird I ever had was a cockatiel named "Flip" (the bird) who lived in the kitchen and made a perfect microwave oven beeping sound. Drove me crazy! My name is a parody of the word nannochloropsis Nannochloropsis - Wikipedia, the free...

    Help ID my snail please

I dumped him back into the tank, but will take another pic when I find him again, next time with shell opening upwards. If Strombus, then I would expect it to stay just under a half inch in size? I would need a Mrs. Strombus to have the hundreds of babies too. I would like to get a positive...

Do I have a leafbird? (*feels like I am walking into joke like do I have Prince William in a can?) Possibly. What is a leafbird?

Sure, I will bring cookies! Now, I will need a list of those of you with nut allergies and gluten intolerances. (you people will have to sign a waiver) ;)

    Help ID my snail please

Mine looks a bit different than your pic...I mean, this baby is pure white with pure black markings. If it's a type of Nassarius, very cool!

I will be there. Will there be cookies?:)

    Help ID my snail please

I believe this tiny little guy came in with a couple of new pieces of LR. Very pretty, has a white body with black spots. The shell is nice too, white with interesting black markings, but I am worried that it might be a coral eater. Help?

    Monthly Get togethers!

I would be happy to host one, question though, about how many people are we talking about here? I am just north of Bothell, I think I would qualify...lol :)

Help with timing lights for SPS coral tank

For someone who doesn't have built in timers, what do you use? Am I needing to go out and buy 6 timers for my 2 tanks? I do like the blue shimmer the LEDs give at night, I have them on while I sit by the tank working on the computer, and yes, the COLORS...way cool. I am going to do a test now...

Help with timing lights for SPS coral tank

I have noticed that many people use a timer or three to simulate sun-up, daytime and sundown. Why? How do you do this? Do you overlap? How long do you set each for? I have MH, VHO and LED moonlights. Right now I am setting just the MH to go on for 10 hours, and then the moonlight on a...

clownfish + sea apple = potential disaster?

I don't know about sea apples as hosts, but I do know that when I have introduced young clowns to a BTA, the older ones will touch it with their body and tail very briefly, run away, then do it again and again. I am assuming they are developing immunity by doing this? So, are you worried more...

    Problem with my clowns

Hi Jen I agree with Kat. Often one clown, usually the larger, will assert itself, claim some territory and get bossy. Watch the terrorized one carefully and if you think it is getting way too picked on ( fin nipped or cowering in a cave or corner, not getting any food) I would recommend...
