    Saltwater Stu's 75g

Just built this easy lantern style hood to hide the LED's on my qt, just thought I'd share. This is where its going I tried to warn her she was going to be in the picture!

    Saltwater Stu's 75g

Small update, tank is still fish only, coral will have to tough it out in qt for 2 more months at my estimates. Most rock has been pulled out of DT, small amount left in to aid in filtration. The plan is to bleach the display pieces I pulled out and scrub and rinse them real good. After the...

    Volcano reef Round 2/revive tank

Is the rock coming out of the surface a waterfall? I really like that idea! Has the exposed rock caused any issues? Sorry if you addressed these, just skimmed the thread and saw the picture!

75g modified System II w/ Miracle Mud & NO SKIMMER

Just got a great deal on the Marineland in-sump skimmer. Don't think its going to work with the fuge setup though. Its in there functioning but so far its still "breaking in" I guess.

75g modified System II w/ Miracle Mud & NO SKIMMER

This really is a great setup! Still getting it fine tuned. Thanks for hooking me up! Just reading through this post makes me realize how much hard work I inherited, makes me apperciate it that much more! So thanks agian, hope to talk to you soon! CMD his 125 is the most well done tank I've seen!

My 90 gallon Wave Tank Upgrade/Build

If you were closer I'd definitely meet ya and take em off your hands but pretty far away, appreciate the offer though. I'll probably end up heading the same route as you though and heading to lowes tomorrow for some supplies!

My 90 gallon Wave Tank Upgrade/Build

Nicely done, just out of curiousity, did you take any pictures of your pvc tubing you used? I'm in the process of reaquascaping and need ideas on how to keep the rock of the sand, got a few ideas kicking around in my head but would really like to see what others have done.

    Bio balls

Thanks guys. Tank ran so steady for so many years I feel like I may be out of touch with how the fine details work together. I'm really anxious to get the corals out of the qt tank and back into the dt but am scared everything isn't quite ready. I'll keep ya posted. thanks again

    Bio balls

So thought about it, the bio balls may be good because they are just easier to clean without the mini cycle and die off with live rock....more stable for the reef enviroment. Is that what I should take from that?

    Bio balls

Can you clarify why this is good for a reef style setup? I thought I had a good understanding of the nitrogen cycle, but now I'm a little confused.

    Bio balls

Probably why I couldn't control the nitrates when I first switched the tank over!

    Bio balls

Sweet, what I wanted to hear, got a bunch of rubble rock that needs to be cycle'd but will be perfect for it.

    Bio balls

I know there are mixed feelings about bio balls out there. I figure if they work great. My problem is I don't think I'm using them right. I have pretty much the whole last chamber of my 40g fuge stuffed with bio balls. This is where my return pump draws the water out of and the chamber is...

    Saltwater Stu's 75g

So bio balls in my refuge, in the chamber for the return pump, fully submersed, are they doing any good?

    Saltwater Stu's 75g

I need to get a skimmer on there too, the old setup I had wont work. I know that will improve the situation as well.

    Saltwater Stu's 75g

So the new 75 has been set up and running for a almost a week now, got some liverock, some of the crushed coral, and my old bio balls into the new system. Added a chromi and both clowns. Everything seems to be fine, except phospates are floating around .25 mg/l and nitrates are 10. Are these...

    Saltwater Stu's 75g

Thank you so much for the concern, but I think I have it taken care of. Ended up snagging TJL's 75 he had and am in the process right now of moving everything out of my old tank into various buckets and my qt tank and then moving the new tank into position and moving everything back. I'm...

    Saltwater Stu's 75g

The tank has been pretty stationary for the last 2 years, BUT this is my original tank I bought to get into the hobby and I have moved it about 10 times in 10 years so I'm sure at some point it got lifted impropperly. I just wonder if the warmer weather that the Seattle area has gotten had...
