So I gots the hair algae...

I always thought I had hair algae but I'm now thinking it's Bryopsis  Been fighting it for about 5 months and despite my best efforts it has overtaken the whole tank. I have not cleaned the inside of the glass in the last 6 weeks as algae will not grow in my tank but that Bryopsis is...

No not a Eunicid worm. This one was free swimming in the water column. My tank is 40 inches deep and it was swimming top to bottom quite happily. very easy to catch.

    ID NEEDED

Sort of but mine is like 30 cm long and they said they can grow to 13cm. Mine seams to change half way down it's body. If you look at the picture I posted it goes from having what looks like legs for about half its length to no legs and a darker body for the rest of its length. Very strange...

How to keep turbo snails alive?

I float the bag in the tank to warm the water up to tank temp. I put a shot glass of water into the bag every 20 mins for 3 hours. When the bag gets full of water I dump half down the drain and keep adding a shot glass full of tank water till the 3 hours is up.

    New Water Changing Station Build

I have a 120 gal water change set up in my basement. Im using a Eheim 1260 Water Pump. It is plumbed so when not changing water it circulates the salt mix. I then have a 100 gal holding tank that is plumbed into the sump. That way when I need to do a water change I can isolate the holding tank...

How to keep turbo snails alive?

Am running GFO and bio pellets at the moment. Phosphates reading 0 when I test but that is in the general water body. My tank is 40 inches deep so testing at sand bed lvl is problematic at best :) bought 2 sea hares. One got sucked into the power head and died within 12 hours. The other died...

How to keep turbo snails alive?

They were the Mexican ones. I am running the tank at 78F at the moment. Might try dropping the temp to 76 and see if that helps. I am having a hair algae issue at the moment and I've been told that higher temps(78 and above) promote the growth of hair algae. I will look in to getting some...

Most reliable and sensitive heater 250 watt

I am running titanium heaters. 2 x 500W controlled by an Apex Neptune controller. I have my tank running at 78 F and the heat is held to within .1 of a degree. I believe the issue with running your tank at 81-81 F is higher electricity bills and also I have heard that running that hot can cause...

How to keep turbo snails alive?

Not seen the fish harming the snails. They just seem to fall of the glass. When you look at their foot it seems to be shriveled up and no longer able to stick to the glass. when I flip them upright they seem to just give up and become hermit and bumble bee snail fodder. I have a Gold Flake...

    mp40 feedback

I have 2 MP40s in a 300 gallon tank. Love them, if you take the time to align the two halves properly you will have very little sound out of them. Going to put 2 MP60's in the tank in a couple of months. need a bit more flow :)

    Cycle

If it was base rock I would definatly throw in some bacteria. They have to come from somewhere. Do you have a friend who could lend you a piece of live rock to seed the tank? If not follow Krish's idea and add some bacteria in a bottle. Then keep it fed :) I set my tank up about 7 weeks ago...

    The big day

more work in the basement. The barrel on the right is 100 gal. I can isolate it from the system to make water changes easier. I have another barrel at 130 gal going in next to it to mix saltwater in. It's all plumbed togeather so i dont have to lift or carry water :)
