Hi everyone I'm getting close to set up my new (to me) 180 gallons tank, I'm so happy he he he, I really need some serious flow in this size tank. So been thinking of getting a couple of MP40 vortech's to keep things flowing, what do you guys and gals think of these pumps are they noisy, reliable, easy to maintain, durable ?. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Because reefing is now, not tomorrow

I love my vortech's. Sleek profile. And no heat going into the tank. So far they have been reliable. Ive been running them over a year now.

I have a wave box, 2 mp40's and 1 mp10 in a 75gallon. my flow is very nice. You may want the mp60s or a combination of 40's and 60's. In a 180. I would have 2 60's and 2 40's and a wavebox if i were running a 180gallon tank. But I do bare bottom and SPS.

I love my MP40. been running solid since the day I got it. Customer service is great and the product is fantastic. It's only improved since I got it with better accessories and interfaces with controllers. Don't hesitate.

It really comes down to appearance and whether that is worth an extra few hundred bucks. Nothing out there currently will beat the clean look of no wires in tank no heat transfer of the mp40. But if that is not important to you, tunze or the jebao would perform equally if not better. Noise level is also better with the ones with the motor in water as oppose to the vortech.

Too noisy for me. I've tried them and have always gone back to Tunze. A friend recently sold one due to noise issues as well. Set up for two is about the same price with wave controller. Its just a matter of preference since both are great companies.

So for no issues. I have been running two mp 40's on my 312g tank for two months. They are on anti sync mode and push water from back of the aquarium to the front (5' distance) Works great and still has enough flow to make the water hit the end of the tank and wash back. Almost dead silent you can hear a slight whir when they are ramped up to full speed. I run mine on reef crest and nutrient export mode

I have 2 MP40s in a 300 gallon tank. Love them, if you take the time to align the two halves properly you will have very little sound out of them. Going to put 2 MP60's in the tank in a couple of months. need a bit more flow :)
