    Poll: Flow turnover rate

LOL, Just checked my math, it sucks:confused: I put in 30,000 instead of 3000 x by a tank volume of about 250 gal. The tank is 60x27x 40 deep. going to be running a Barracuda gold with a 10 foot head, with 2 Vortech mp 60's. (Not sure wether to use MP 40's or 60's. ) Would like the 60's but cost...

Fire Shrimp with a Peppermint or Cleaner Shrimp in a 40G Breeder?

I like the cleaner shrimp, they interact well togeather and are very friendly. used to keep 6 in my 100 gallon tank. They were always cleaning my hands when i had them in the tank for maintenance. lol

    Plumbing conundrum

The tank is going to be tight into a corner of the room so i dont want any over the top pipework, I would rather drill the tank. I have thrown togeather a drawing with hole diameters. I was going for heavy duty bulkheads but could use cheeper ones and have larger pipework. Just a thought.

    Plumbing conundrum

Thanks for the advice. The problem is the pump is already bought, To drill the tank bottom to widen the hole would mean drilling through 3/4 inch glass. The tank weighs about 700 lbs so moving it around to drill it would be a problem. I thought mybe to use one of the 1.5 bulkheads as supply from...

    Plumbing conundrum

I am in the process of setting up my new tank, The guy that built the tank drilled holes on the bottom of the overflow for 2 x 1.5 bulkheads and a inch bulkhead. At the top of the overflow he put a hole on for a 3/4 bulkhead. I am guessing the pump conects to the inch then to the 3/4 back to...

    Starphire glass

I have a problem with a scratch to the outside front of my tank. It is 3/4 thick Starphire glass. Does anybody know the best way to remove it? The scratch is about a foot long. May be about 1/128 deep. Luckily it's close to the bottom and the tank is still empty. Can Starphire glass be polished...

    New tank

Lol, got in the tank to check for scratches in the glass. Wife kept passing me beer. Hoping to get it lifted into position on Sat, got some wiring to sort out and a wall to repair that I knocked out to get the tank in. Hoping to start filling with water in about 3 weeks. Got a lot of work...

    New tank

the plywood should be fine, I would put a few coats of epoxy paint on all exposed areas for water protection from spills and leaks, if the bottom is going to be drilled you might have some issues getting bulkheads to seal (you need an oversize hole in the wood, as it has a wood bottom I'd be...

    New tank

Have had a new tank built. It is 60x27x40 deep. The guy that made it has glued a piece of 1 inch thick multi ply to the bottom of the tank. My question is will I have to remove the wood to sit the tank on the polystyrene or as the builder said will I be ok to put the tank and wood on the...

    Hello all

Thanks Krish, Had a read and it really boils down to personal preference . Think I'm going to run with a couple of Vortex MP 60's. That way I can alternate the flow better. Thanks for the help.
