    dimdims tank thread !

You will be able to feed a little more,(which will allow you to get more fish) once your sump and skimmer are operational. That'll be fun. I love coral beauties but they can be pickers. I had one for about 6yrs. but when I got a feather duster it just wouldn't leave it alone. I finally had...

    Hello

Hi and welcome to saltwater. Its a fascinating hobby, and yes a little expensive but I think you'll find it well worth it. The same skills that helped you be successful in fresh water will serve you well in salt.

    Hello there!!

Hi dimdim! Welcome to RF. I'm afraid I am not the one to ask about uploading pics ( being technically challenge ) but I'd love to see your tank when you figure it out. I have a similar size tank system although mine is a 36 bow front with 10 gallon sump. Mine is a softie/LPS tank although...

How do you think different lighting affects zoas

IPisces, I have a 30" unit with only 4 bulbs. One 10k, 2 actinic blue and 1 purple. It does have 2 LEDs for a moonlit effect which has that very appealing shimmering like MH give you. My AquaticLife fixture takes up most of the rectangular portion of my bow front tank so an LED unit would have...

How do you think different lighting affects zoas

So I am browsing this thread and learning a lot about LEDs. I am wondering if its possible to buy a one strip fixture to supplement my AquaticLife T5 lighting. In all of your opinions, would that enhance the colors and general appeal of my tank?

New/Old member ready to get back in maybe

Hi and welcome to RF. Well since you have already been in the hobby, at least you know what you really like...clams and anemones. You can decide what your 'must haves' are and tailor the tank from there. Its taken me some 6yrs to get there but now I have a tank that is deeply satisfying and...

    LPS and calcium

I decided to check out your tanks and they are beautiful. I definitely couldn't argue with anything you are doing!

    RBTA

Yeap, that's how Absalom was. He took up the entire center of my 90 gallon tank. I didn't want to sell him but caring 24/7 for my bedridden mom in law necessitated it. WCs were becoming more difficult and I needed to save my energy for Mom so I decided to downsize before my animals suffered...

Ahh, I miss Absalom (that was my anemone's name) now that I looked at the pic of your anemone.

    LPS and calcium

I guess each one of us must evaluate what works in our own aquariums. Perhaps the make up and composition of our water plays into the formula as well. I would imagine different water sources have differing minerals and elements. Its hard to argue with what has been working.

Cool yes, but I bet you need scuba gear to just clean the glass! Actually that sounds kinda fun too.

I used to have an enormous (14" diameter) sabea anemone. I rarely fed it and that tank only had VHO lighting. I put it near the top of the tank but it moved to the bottom third. Apparently it was getting all it needed tho because I had it for almost 6 yes when I sold it. I don't use RO/DI...

Been up for almost 7 months any suggestions

Very nice tank. I don't envy you decorating from behind tho. I used to have a tank in the wall and the effect is awesome but doing anything with the rock work is tough. Still, once you have it the way you want, its very picturesque. Are you going to keep some of the softies that are down low...

    New to RF

Welcome to RF. I started with just a salt water tank and fish. It had a small amount of live rock and it grew from there. Pretty soon a 40 gallon system grew to a 100 gallon system and then to a 200 gallon system. As your passion for the hobby grows so will your tanks. Money and time can...

    Just wanted to say hello

Welcome to RF. There are lots of very knowledgeable and nice folks here. Will enjoy hearing about your family's aquariums!

    LPS and calcium

My tank is about half LPS and half softies. I could probably wait until my LPS start to really use calcium and then ,take the switch to reef crystals since different ones of you on RF have successfully used IO in mixed reefs. I have a few prime spots high in my tank where light and flow would...

    Dawn's new 36 bowfront aquarium

That's funny. In our family I was kind of odd man out because I was the only female, although even I was a tom boy! My husband Dave and I have 3 boys, Nate 29, Matt 27 and Andy 25. The 2 older boys are married and Andy will be married Memorial Day. I got Nate into fresh and salt water fish...
