Been up for almost 7 months any suggestions

I have a 150gl tank thats been up and runniing for 7 months I have a 55gl sump, phos. reactor, lifegaurd filter system with charcoal,filter and uv sterilizer SWC protein skimmer, grounding probe, 55 gl tote for my ato water system and then a 55gl tote for mixing salt for water changes. I use saliferts products and c-balance to try and maintain KH and calcium and struggling right now. Is there any good secrets or items that I may want to invest in that will help me down the future/

Going back on your question. What works for me is the BRS CA and ALK 2 part system. Dosing is via a cheap aqualifters on mechanical timers.

Btw, welcome to RF... I really like your tank, specially your anemone at the back.... great bubble tip....

thanks for the great comments I am in the proccess of trying to get a calcium reactor for more stable ALK and calcium levels if I miss a dose my levels drop and its hard keeping up right now.
As for the anemone it split recently and need to find a home for one of them before they start touching some of my corals so if anyone's in the area let me know. just need to figure out how to remove it safely

If you are close by i will grab that from you. Im a sucker of nems.... hmm how many houra drive is wenatchee from seattle? I normally wait for them to attach to glass and grab them from there... unless you can remove the rock with it, then you can turn it around upside down, they dont like when they are on top.... once they start moving specially at night, their foot is not embedded and can be easily remove.

Check the bulk reef suppy for two part additives... just another option compared to calc reactor.. and make it automatic dosing so its worry free and does not fluctuate... my doser is aquapump and the regulator used is water dripper from garden section. Im using the smallest gallonage per hour. And the smallest i can find is half gallon per hour which works best.

I have a gallon of calcium that drips 15 min in the morning and 15 min in the afternoon. This will last me almost 8-10 days. The same with kalk. So i just refill 3 times a month.

I can keep on going with the details if you want me to...

Thanks for the info if decide not to get calc reactor then yeah more info would be great I am actually headed to that side of the mountains this Saturday and there is someone from reef frontiers selling a reactor and hopefully we can make a deal. I have a fealling that I am going to need one eventually since I am slowly going toward more of a sps and lps tank. Right now I am doing a double dose of C-Balance one in the morning and one in the evening and barely can maintain minimun levels.

I will take a look at what its attached to and see if I can get it off or if its just attached to a small piece of live rock (hopefully) and get then I will pm this evening what I find have to go to work now but will do it as soon as I get home. I am taking a load of recycled goods for my bro who owns a recycling outfit here in town. Not sure where on that side but I will find more info on that as well.

Honestly, if it's not broke don't fix it! To the extent you're able, automating dosing helps me have more time to enjoy my tank.

I do have it running with very little maintance and now only dose a capfull of Trace Hard and Trace Soft by Salifert on alternating days and do water changes every 3-4 weeks. I guess main thing is what to watch out for or prepare for as things progress. I know I need to give away or swap some some corals for bare rock before things get to over grown in some areas. some paly's are starting to touch so its time to get it a new home and start over with bare rock.

well here is some pics. I recently added a calcium reactor wasn't ready for the major depletion of KH and calcium its been running a little over a month everything seems stable and did a complete test recently and everthing is right on track.

I put my lights on a rail system to glide out of the way with ease, when I remolded the basement I plumbed water to the back area for the RODI only forgot about the waste water but luckly I was able to find a path back to a drain. I have two 55gl totes 1 for my auto make up water and the other is mixed heated salt water ready on hand right now its empty do to the water change.

So if there is anything that I am missing or should be prepared for please let me know thanks for the help.

yes its slowly transitioning to a lps sps tank most of those pieces are on the top and biggest problem is the main rock that is low is covered with large mushrooms so it will be tricky swapping those out.

Thanks!! I am still struggling at times, hit some bumps here and there thankfully with only a few losses but only can learn from your mistakes. I was at Ocean by Design last Friday and picked up a few more fish since a few others went rogue. Think it might be time to remove some anenomes think there having expensive snacks.

Ha, maybe that's why you don't have to feed them lol. Try adding some meaty meals and you may find your fish last longer, just a thought.

Very nice tank. I don't envy you decorating from behind tho. I used to have a tank in the wall and the effect is awesome but doing anything with the rock work is tough. Still, once you have it the way you want, its very picturesque.
Are you going to keep some of the softies that are down low? I can't help it, I still like mushrooms and palys and leathers.
