    Gallons per hour???

I think I already screwed this up... I think the poll choices need to be revised to more hours after thinking about it but I can't seem to change the poll choices.

    Gallons per hour???

Okay, not sure how this poll is going to go but I am wondering if there is an 'efficient' tank volume where you get most gallons per hour. Not even sure how one starts a poll but I think I need two pieces of information. First how many hours per week do you spend on your tank? Second, how big...

    Algae overtaking Zoo's

I think great success with just one dip! The babies are flourishing... in fact I didn't know they were there until the algae dissappeared. Thank you for the great advice, mfinn!!!

    CB Butterfly infection?

Thank for the reply. I do regular water changes, watch my params... Not twice a day, maintain my skimmer. What I am having a hard time with is how fast the spot developed and he died! Really about 24 to 36 hours. He was literally eating out of my hand the day before! Could it have been an...

    Algae overtaking Zoo's

24 hours after first dip and looking good. Will wait another day or two and do it at least once more. There are a couple of 'baby' zoos on the plug so I want to be a bit careful not to over shock them.

    CB Butterfly infection?

Lee, I have had a CB Butterfly for about a month... was eating frozen carnivorous, mysis, and picking at the copapods. Seemed very happy adjusted to tankmates, etc. Then I notice yesterday he was nestling up to the cleaner shrimp, laying sideways, and nudging the cleaner to get to work...

    Algae overtaking Zoo's

Okay, should I try to cut away with a razor as much as reasonably possible prior to the dip?

    Algae overtaking Zoo's

Any nifty ideas on how to rid the algae that is fouling my prized Zoo's? The culprit came on the plug with the zooanthids. The undesirables didn't appear for several months but now look to be choking and not allowing full extension and multiplication of polyps.

    Steel Stands

Hey Jason, go for it! I love my router table I bought when we went to the tool show together. I know how you feel! After building a solid hardwood stand and canopy for my previous tank, I have to say I love the clean lines and accessibility of a steel stand on my current tank. Getting it...

    Prime Lenses

Been a canon guy for years after shooting minolta (teen years) then nikon (ego years 20's) until it was stolen. I have L series, zooms, macros, bought and sold lenses, bla, bla, bla. All said there is sharpness differences between lens types and even the same lens. One copy can be much better...

    Lime green flower pot coral

Here is another shot with a slight tweak to the white balance after shooting with AWB on camera. This time polyps much more extended and with whiter light on tank! Uploaded with ImageShack.us

    Lime green flower pot coral

Yeah it is greener than your typical yellow flowerpot coral but that is why I got it. I didn't get the white balance perfect so it may be showing more green than real. Lemon-lime? It is also under LED lighting... Hard to say what but i am guessing in the 12 to 14K range.

    help id this snail?

    Cracks in Acrylic Tank?

Yes definitely report this to your insurance company now... while the details are fresh in your mind. I am not an expert but I do deal with plastics and adhesives. Environment does affect various plastics... namely chemicals, UV, thermocylicing, vibration, can all attribute to the 'ageing' of...

    Swimming Aiptasia meets its match!

It was actually quite a funny storry... and I can't preface it enough to convey, but as I was watching the aiptasia pulse along, I called my wife to watch this and she reluctantly (probably more just to humor me) came over to see the aiptasia swimming. I decided I should net the damn thing and...
