    setting up a skimmer?

Not familiar with the skimmer but recommend making sure you read the adjustment directions. Keeping in mind skimmers take a while to break in so if it was me I would just let it run for a day or 2 and see what develops with the current level. if not making the foam your looking for make...

    Moving confirmed.

Mine is like the one you mentioned connected to my RO/DI unit. They do make portable TDS meters. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/catalog/product/view/id/401/

    Moving confirmed.

Just a thought and not sure it would even work. But what about a power invert to run a small heater. Of course I guess it would depend on wattage, but wonder of that might be a way to keep things warm.

    Moving confirmed.

Water changes won't remove the beneficial bacteria as it primarily lives on the rock within the tank. Very little of it is in the water column. The water changes are recommend as a way to keep ammonia, and nitrites in check as a more than likely the move will trigger a cycle to some degree. How...

Birds nest bleaching and GSP closed?

It's all pretty much Kalk paste of sorts. It's perfectly fine as long as you take the precautions to not over do it. If you have a PH monitor/probe keep an eye on things as you're doing it all the better. One thing I do, with Kalk paste at least, is let it sit there for about an 1/2hr to 1hr and...

Birds nest bleaching and GSP closed?

I'm suspecting the kalk paste raised the alk and PH quickly causing things to stress out. Unless you have a PH probe and test alk frequently you may never have known. Keep in mind people use Kalk to keep their alk levels in check and Kalk will also raise the PH quickly if a lot is used. The...

Birds nest bleaching and GSP closed?

Burns them and is a common treatment for them. Just have to be careful how much you use and how many you go after.

Birds nest bleaching and GSP closed?

Maybe...Maybe not.. Everything can react different based upon the conditions. Some might not be affected at all while other corals get stressed. That was the change from his/her normal routine or last thing out of the norm done.

Birds nest bleaching and GSP closed?

Kalk paste may be the answer. It could have spiked the ALK/KH up to high along with PH. Have to be careful when doing this as the sudden increase of KH and resulting raise in PH can cause bad things to happen. How much did you use or better yet how many majono's did you zap?

    Loc-line sale locally in Seattle

I'm pretty sure the last time I was in Barrier picking up a bulkhead I saw that they had lockline. This was a little over a month or so ago.

    Replacement for OPT-3000?

Best advice I can give at this time is to let it run. Doesn't take much for a skimmer to stop skimming. Oil from your skin from putting your hands in the tank can stop them from skimming. Just need to find a way to control the bubbles entering the tank.

    Replacement for OPT-3000?

If you just cleaned it give it some time to skim up/film up. Cleaning them can cause them to stop producing move for a little while, kind of like when it was new. Also, what did you clean it with?

    refractometer

Ok. I was thinking this was a dedicated QT tank. Hypo should take care of it for you. Plan for 6-8 weeks of running this way. The main DT will need to be fallow for that period to complete the ich cycle.

    refractometer

Sorry.. Hit send to soon. Was trying to saw I've battled ich before in QT. Check water params frequently though as they can change quickly in QT without all the good bacteria in there. I also did the Seachem Cupramine in mine when I did it. Just make sure test the levels frequently also as you...

    refractometer

That should do it. Having battled icht before in QT

Also make sure to pit some large PVC plumbing elbows, slips in the for hiding places. If you don't already. Hiding for fish is their security.

    Water change refill without buckets

Nice job.. Lugging buckets is in thing I hate. My sump is in the garage so I can do a WC pretty quick out there if that's all I'm doing. The problem comes when I need to vacuum the sand in the DT. Gotta use a bucket for that.. :)
