Does anybody know which refractometer goes down to 1.009 or lower? Im doing a hypo treatment, getting ready to, but my refractormeter only goes down to 1.020. Im following lees directions.

Ok. Thank you. I managed to talk the landlord into a 55g qt. Not big enough for the tank at home, but my wifes fish in her office are small and have ick. Havent exactly figured out what caused it. Think its her blue hippo.

Well poo. Ive been watching the fish in qt, blue hippo, 2 chromis, sand goby, yellow tang, sailfin tang, all small, and noticed the hippo is harassing all the other fish. I have some eggcrate im going to use to isolate the hippo from all the other fish. Other than that, they are doin good so far.

Wow! I really appreciate it ! I found someone that is letting me use theirs. I have the water at 1.015 now and will lower it to the recommended 1.009 tomorrow. I also divided the fish up in the qt. The hippo is all by itself now.

Also make sure to pit some large PVC plumbing elbows, slips in the for hiding places. If you don't already. Hiding for fish is their security.

I put a couple 3" 90s and a couple 1" couplings as well as a piece of 1" pipe for the dart fish. They all seem to be doing better. I know, dont jump the gun. 8 weeks after the last spot is gone, they can go home.

Sorry.. Hit send to soon. Was trying to saw I've battled ich before in QT. Check water params frequently though as they can change quickly in QT without all the good bacteria in there. I also did the Seachem Cupramine in mine when I did it. Just make sure test the levels frequently also as you want to keep it at the recommend level. Hypo should work fine, but I think the copper helps along with the process.

I thought about using copper. I decided not to because of copper "sticking" to everything. If i had extra equipment, filter and tank, i probably would use it. Also, copper sounds like it could go bad real quick in a tank. My wife and i would also like to set this tank up after the qt as a display fuge and theres to much of a risk of not getting all the copper out and polluting the reef itd be tied to.

Ok. I was thinking this was a dedicated QT tank. Hypo should take care of it for you. Plan for 6-8 weeks of running this way. The main DT will need to be fallow for that period to complete the ich cycle.

A refractometer/ It says portable refractometer on the case and RHS10ATC on the sticker. I have both now a refractometer and a hydrometer- that's what I started with) and it is silver and black, with a view focusing adjusting ring and the scale is from 1.000 to 1.070, it's a dual scale and the other scale is 0 to 100. It is made out of aluminum. It is offered by Agricultural Solution through Amazon. Mine was 28.95 but now it is like $39.95. They have many different ones. Mine works great.

I just checked Amazon and the one I got is now $46.95, I got it before Christmas so I don't know why the big price difference, maybe they had a sale. The one hydrometer I have is about .015 off of my refractometer. This is something I asked for last Christmas to no avail, so I tried it again and my wife got it for me.

So if it was .026 yours would read .0275. That's no bueno is it?
See mine are.02 all off. I run my tank at .025 usually .026 but the other ones read .023 ish or lower.
I'm scared to raise it any higher.
My calcium and alk check out as if my tank was .026 so I leave it.

Those millwalkie ones on marine depot are only 124$ I think
The one picses has.

I looked at a nitrate probe today and about $/~¥ my pants lol

Well, I don't know if I said it correctly, but if my hydrometer reads 1.023, my refractometer will read 1.0245. So it's .0015 off. I think. It's the new math, so I'm screwed.

Yea that's a lot isn't it? Which one do you trust :)
We rely on the ten thousandths number.
I just wanna know. Then i thought hypo salinity was when we ran our tanks UP to 1.028 how can we be accurate in that?
Like I said my others run low. So I use the highest one as a precaution.
