    Dead live rock sitting in rubber maid?

    I would just treat it like dry rock and cure it. Since you're not trying to get rid of pests or algae, bleaching and cooking is probably not necessary. Check out the BRS cure live rock video as a starter. http://youtu.be/qrNSssUarA0 But if you're interested Cooking...

    Wow, that is a steal. Could have bought that almost 10x over for the price I paid for my 25watt aqua uv.

    Red planet growth

    Wish mine grew upward, for whatever reason my red planet keeps growing outward, acting like an encrusting monti. Started out a plug size, now covering a 5 inch circular area

    A lighter color for the draw fronts with a darker color for the top and bottom bordering it would be cool looking.

    how to minimize acrylic tank scratching?

    Mr clean magic eraser, household cleaning supplies pretty much any store have them. Target, Freddie's....etc. Cut it bigger than the size of the magnet and the force of the magnets would just sandwich it together. I start by holding both the piece of eraser and the inner magnet in the water and...

    how to minimize acrylic tank scratching?

    I used a great white magnet. They make an acrylic safe pad but I cut a magic eraser the long thin way and use that instead in my magnet. For the stubborn coralline I use a softer acrylic scrapper blade that I got from the guy that made my tank.

    Opening up corals & Nitrate Issues

    The amount of food sure doesn't sound like to be the problem, and that amount of food shouldn't equate to that much waste. So something else seems to be the cause. What is your ammonia and nitrite levels? Do you have an algae problem now? or had a bloom previously? With that much nitrate, and...

    return pump and chiller question

    Error on the side of larger pump and put a gate valve on it. I would run a second pump for the chiller as I don't like to have everything inline and rather more modular. If the chiller needs to be replaced you would need to mess with your return, etc.

    Supplementing T5s with a strip LED?

    I added a couple strips of this to my nano to help with that. You could give this a shot as a cheaper alternative or trial to see if it gets you the result you are looking for. I use the same stuff for moonlight, and one section of it with 3 led is more than enough to cover my 8gal cube...

    Black sand

    Never noticed, so I tried it and couldn't get anything to stick to the small magnet i normally used to clean my nano. So tried using my large Great white magnet that I use for my 150 and I did get a few grains to stick to the magnet. So looks like there is some magnetic behavior in the sand, but...

    RBTA split

    Nothing special here. They should heal within 24hrs. I don't usually feed my nem as my maroon likes to feed it. He would grab big pieces of food and feed it to my nem.
