    Best LFS for Tangs?

I like barrier reef too, and blue sierra in issaquah but we only go to those stores maybe 2-3x/year. my opinion of barrier reef went down a bit after i bought macroalgae from one of their sumps and it had a lot of swimming anemones. this was a year ago and I still find one of those pests every...

    Where is Lugol's Iodine sold?

I like in Kirkland. Our galaxea took out one of our blue mushrooms so there is now brown jelly where the mushroom used to be. Where can I find Kent's Lugol's Iodine in the area? Is it different or the same as Kent's Iodine that is commonly sold? Any other tips for stopping and curing this...

    anemone suicide !!!!!

I agree that vicki is a good source of information. we sold our giant bta to her recently as it had grown so large, it took over half our tank. 3 years ago, we had a 100 gallon tank that we switched from FO to a reef. Bought this bta anemone and loved how he looked in our tank here: within...

    a girl that needs help

i am great at maintaining our reef tank, but suck at the diy projects. male friends and family members do the projects for me but i need to be able to tell them specifically what needs to be done. here is the project at hand: wavemaker is attached to upper right hand corner of corner bowfront...

New pics! giant bta is gone & re-aquascaped

picked up 2 new frogspawns and a banggai cardinalfish since then as well. the bta was a lot bigger than shown in the first pic. it destroyed the hammer on the left side and completely took over that whole side of the tank. before: after, left side: after, right side:

    Switching Salts

we switched from instant ocean to reef crystals without batting an eye. they're made by the same company and we do 10g water changes in a 92g + 20g sump - 130# liverock. You can always make the water for your change and just do half today, half tomorrow or something to taper it more?

    Bad News

Been there too. 2 winters ago we had no power for 3 days because of the windstorm. We only had a snowflake moray in the 100gal tank at the time and he survived. We put 3 blankets around the tank for the entire duration. Now that we have a reef tank, we purchased this...

mallory & mickey in the bta

our goldstriped clowns in their gbta. unfortunately, this anemone got so large, it literally took over half our tank and our other corals had all been squished into the other side so we had to sell her. the clowns moved over to the sebae.

ever heard of a banggai cardinalfish hosting a sebae?

we recently added a banggai cardinalfish to our tank. we have a large sebae anemone that is in the left corner. it's pretty big and our 2 maroon clowns host it. the cardinalfish is usually near the top part of the sebae, the clowns always stay near the base and the bottom. i joke that the clowns...

we need to replace our 6 geisemann 39W T5 bulbs. the bulbs we had came with the tank when we bought it new 1 year ago. 2 each of pur actinic, aquablue and midday I believe. any advice on where to purchase bulbs? would rather do it online than at a store, and we'll probably get a combo of...

    frogspawn & T5 lighting

I have the same light fixture over a 90g corner tank so it's deep. Our frogspawn did great on the bottom for 5 months. Then our giant bta started invading so we moved the frogspawn to the very top of the tank. He's been happy either way and we keep the flow over him to a minimum.

    Clownfish fry

Thanks! We didn't see any. The lights come on at 11:30am and I noticed the eggs had hatched at 12pm but didn't see anything. The clowns anemone will be gone in the next week so I don't expect they'll lay eggs again for a bit. We have a sebae as well and they swim in her, but they don't feed her...
