Give me a call to discuss. Perhaps I could meet you part way. I know that getting across the bridge can be a bitch. What is your first name? Mat 206-330-8522

    Controlling CaRx Output Flow

This is not it - but it looks more like this... http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=44223-1029-MLD-STA&lpage=none Black with a stake. There is a barbed inlet and outlet with a little square screw to dial in the gate. Mat

    Controlling CaRx Output Flow

So no matter what you do to mess with the flow through the reactor, you are going to have to dial in the CO2 all over again. No matter what you do, you need to have the balance of flow through the reactor and the CO2 entering so that the media will disolve. You can either have the flow through...

    Controlling CaRx Output Flow

I would rope down the input with a gate valve. Gate valve will give you the most control and then the reactor is less susceptable to pressure changes. Also, by clamping the output, calcium and other stuff will buildup, slowing things down over time.

    Mogul to double ended conversion.

Before luminarcs (and the mini's) I thought a DE setup was totally the way to go. The DE pendants (Reef optix III and PFO mini's) focus the light really well into the tank, and as a result, 250 DE setup tends to have intensity like a 450w SE setup. However, now that there are SE pendants that...

    MSX-200 question

The pump actually came pre-assembled. The reducer was already in place and is flush and the air injector is in place as well. I had to trim the tubing since it was about 6" too long. I do not have the pump inlet down, why is that important? Mat

    MSX-200 question

Thx for the help. It is in about 9" of water, trimmed the airline back so that it doesn't kink, otherwise that line is clear. Thx for the reference Finn, I read most of the 75 pages yesterday. I think I will peal off the volute later today. Wasn't sure what it should look like on the inside...

    MSX-200 question

Just got a MSX-200 from Marine Solutions. I am curious if anyone else has gotten one from the new batch. It is pretty much plug-and-play. I have not looked at the impeller/mesh assembly, but it seems like it is not making quite as many bubbles as I had hoped. I am a bit nervous to take the...

Poll: Green Polyped Sarcophyton frags from Denver, CO

So I took a prelim step to frag one of my neon green toadstools and have 4 frags available. They are each about 1/4" or so, bigger than when we got them. I want to make sure they settle in okay, so probably not available for another week or two. Will sell them for $30 each. Sorry no...

Looking for a Local Stand Builder

Big Dave did my stand if you are looking for wood. Very good work. Have not seen him around here in a while but it looks like a nice piece of furniture in my living room.

Would a 125 be to much weight on the second floor?

Yeah, it all depends on the floor joints and the footprint of the tank. As Dnjan said, Against an external wall is best with as many joists running underneith as possible (joists runing perpendicular). Mat

Has anyone used the maxijet mod??????

They rock. The ability to direct and aim the flow is a nice improvement over the mjmods version. Better spin, better fit, quieter and better materials....they are seriously plug and play. I bought 2 to try them out, and 2 months later they were so solid I went for 2 more.

    1000 Gallon

    1. I ordered 4 buckets of IO last month from Fosters. Great deal on salt if they are still having it. 2. So at least in seattle proper (king county) they calculate your "sewage" use by determining your water usage during the winter months (figuring you are not using extra water in the yard or...

    1000 Gallon

When do the Summer water rates come about? I know for me, they use my water usage over several months of the winter to determine my "seware" usage for the whole rest of the year. You may end up paying for all this water once this next month, and then the whole rest of the year if they use part...

    RO/DI filter replacement

I would turn the input water off, and then open up the output to empty out as much water as possible (especially if the unit has a small storage tank). Then replace each filter and start it back up. How much you throw away depends on your feed water TDS. My incoming water is about 50, so I...

    Ca Reactor Question

I am not familiar with your reactor, but in general the Schuran Pico material requires a lower pH to dissolve. No worries about the Co2 tank in the living room. Assuming the regulator does not have a leak, the CO2 will stay in the system. Even if it filled the room with the windows shut, it...

    Closed loop for a beginner

There are still these two issues. The biggest issue being that those pumps are not very powerful.

    Closed loop for a beginner

No it would not work. The loop would then no longer be closed. You would drain the tank (or most of it) into the 10 gal tank. In principal, a closed loop has 3 parts, (1) exit from the tank to the pump, (2) the pump, (3) the return from the pump back into the tank. If the pump is not an...
