    I have acquired a 3" and a 6" leather corals and am not sure about tank placement. High water flow or low. 400 watt halides on 300 gal tank... Top, middle or bottom of the tank. Rockwork comes 1/2 way up 30" deep tank.

    Which Calcium Reactor is best

    Any thoughts as to which brand of calcium reactor lives up to its hype? I'm thinking of an outside of the sump reactor due to lack of room. I have lots of room and height in the cabinet under the tank. It's a 300 gal tank so it needs to put out a goodly amount of calcium.

    Red Slime

    I used Chemiclean and it didn't get rid of all of my red slime. The problem is that if it comes back additions of Chemiclean won't work any more. At least it stopped working for me. I had followed LFS advice to try 1/2 strength and am sorry I did.

    My original problem is that SPS corals, particularly acopora, die off within a week. Soft corals seem to be doing well. I converted this 300 gal fish only to a reef tank.     low calcium problem

    I have added both dry and liquid calcium to my 300 gal tank but cannot get calcium readings over 350. Alkalinity is also low but PH is high. I have added additional Magnesium and Strontium but no luck. The water looks slightly cloudy as if all the calcium is not dissolving.

    Seems like this kind of addition would possibly start a "Red Algae" outbreak since red algae is really a cyanobacteria (sp).

    I haven't seen a bit of GHA since I added a Scopas and a yellow tang. Also a lawnmower Blennie. They gobbled up both a GHA and the Calurpa that was taking over the tank. I also added Ozone to the skimmer air intake.

    I have a 300 gal tank that is being converted to reef from fish. Any suggestions fro a calcium reactor? I have been using kalk on my 65 gal with good results but 300 gal is a whole nother ballgame.
