    Nwcfm?

I wish I could have made it. Looks like it's just starting to get going up here...maybe seattle next year :). I'm curious about the melafix dip...does it eliminate most pests (flatworms, red bugs, etc). Thanks for all the great info.

    Sudden Tissue Recession...why

well it definately wasn't from having the alk on the low side :)

    Sudden Tissue Recession...why

Thanks for all the responses. I figured the spike in alk was most likely a big part. Also when the alk spiked so did my Mg and Ca. It's sounding like maybe I gave them a bit of a burn when my Ca RX went nuts. Hopefully a couple h2o changes and getting things back in check will get these sps...

    Nwcfm?

Just curious if anyone made it out to the NWCFM and if so how was it? I attended the one in the SF bay area last year and it was a great event. Couldn't make it to the NW one this year cuz I'm in the middle of moving but I'd like to hear how it was. So please share if you were there :) Jeff

    Sudden Tissue Recession...why

I've been feeding pretty regularly (been slacking a bit with the move though). I thought maybe the Alk thing might have stressed them a bit. I'm sure a nice water change is in order I just don't have any made up...

    New Icecap Ballast issues...

The funny thing is, one of my timers blew out two days ago as well. I never claimed to have the "electronic" touch. I always seem to be the guy that breaks the copier, or has the fax machine screaming at me, I get the blue screen of death more then most and I still can't operate a cell phone...

    New Icecap Ballast issues...

That was one of the first things I checked and that all seems to be fine. When it does get the bulb on, it just burns so dull and then after a few minutes just craps out.

    New Icecap Ballast issues...

I had to hardwire it because I couldn't find the adapters for the new models. I'm sure this voids all warrantee. It's always something.

    New Icecap Ballast issues...

So I purchased a new icecap 250w mh ballast about three months back and today I noticed my bulb not turning on. I switched the bulbs around to make sure it wasn't the bulb first (they were all fine) Then I plugged the ballast back in and watched as it struggled to ignite the bulb. Right as it...

The business is continuing in cali...a friend of ours is setting up a shop down there so he's going to be taking everything pretty much (except some frags i'm keeping) so it will still be an ongoing thing...just not with us in seattle...but at least i found a new place that is ok with the tanks...

hey sorry i haven't gotten back to you. It's been crazy trying to find a new house and figure out how to move all of these wonderful tanks. Plus mark has been getting ready to move back to jersey and wants to sell all the corals before he leaves so that's been alot of fun.

We've been trying to find a new place. Mark decided to move back to jersey instead of finding a place out here. Trying to deal with all the corals since he's not going to be taking them with him. You know lots of fun stuff

    CaRX Media

I was messing around with my CaRX tonight and I got to thinking about the media that I was using. Then I started wondering how many different types there even are out there (and the main differences) and what the majority of all you fellow reefers prefer to use. Comments and thoughts are...

    What size chiller?

I grew up in jersey...i know all about humidity in the summer :) ...thanks everyone for the input...i think cost wise i'm going to have to go with the 1/3 hp as I really only need to knock it down a couple degrees and the 1/2 hp is a bit out of my price range right now

    What size chiller?

So my system is ~250g totaly water volume. I'm looking into getting a chiller (a pacific coast chiller because I can get it through work). My question is can I get by with a 1/4 hp or the 1/3 hp or do i really need to flip out the extra $500 for the 1/2 hp. Any thoughts or suggestions are...

1/2 hp Chiller- I'm sick of the power cost!

It's always good to have a back up plan...right now my back up plan on the 240g is 5 fans...i've been thinking a chiller might be a better idea for me :)
