Cycling new tank: proper NH3 level?

Take your water to the store to be tested. That can tell you if your kits are off. If the tank is cycled, the trates will slowly build. And it shouldn't take much to get a cycle started. The tonga would probably be fine to put in there, but i'd get my water tested at the store, just to double...

    Merc + Brad's new 50g

I guess they're a really nice store in Cali, and they have an online front too. I haven't purchased from them yet, so I can't personally give a feedback though, lol.

    coral question

We have a toadstool leather, and there was a mushroom touching the stalk, and half of the 3" mushroom burned off. This just happened like this week. So if you don't care what happens to the zoos go for it, but the leather will probably win that chemical war.

    coral question

Other way around, but yes. The leathers (sarcophyton) are very noxious. The zoas are too, but not nearly as bad, and only through touch. The leathers can put stuff through the whole tank. Yellow fiji's are gorgeous!!!

    saveing stuff after a fire

Hi, I am really sorry to hear that happened!! That's really crummy, to say the least. With your rock, I don't know if boiling it all off would help? But with it being a chemical, maybe that wouldn't be a good idea. How long has it been soaking in the tub?

LED lighting for a 29g biocube

We found these LED light kits at nanotuners.com, but does anybody know if the LED light is actually beneficial for growing corals? I would think so, based on the recent LED lighting for aquariums stuff I've seen, but how many little 1 watters would you need before they actually do anything? It'd...

spider web looking stuff on my liverock

No, I looked that up just a couple days ago, and Wetwebmedia said there is no reef safe thing you could add that'd eat em. We used to have a toby puffer that pecked at & ate everything on our rocks. He was cool, til he ate all the feather dusters, lol....

spider web looking stuff on my liverock

Yeah, when they get bigger they can put out a ton of those things. If you grab the web really carefully & pull up, you'll probably see a bunch coming out of the same little snail hole. And if you have a bunch on one rock they're probably all tangled together like mine are. I have an emerald...
