  1. "Umm fish?"

    the colors of corals

    Okay. Thanks for the clarification!

    the colors of corals

Anthony--If I may ask, which part are you objecting to on his lights? The 250W halides or the 14,000K color? I'm using 250W 20,000K halides on a 24" deep tank with no loss of color. My growth rate may not be maxed out, but I'm willing to put up with that for the gorgeous show (it's a display...

    the colors of corals

I think you're right. I think they're starving. Light alone can't provide all that a coral needs (except maybe with some zoathids). You might try feeding a little more in general, and maybe with some really small zooplankton. It can't hurt as long as you keep up on water changes. But, it's hard...

    lets see the BLASTO'S!

My same blasto from page 3 with a little handheld blacklight.

    Predatory Starfish removal

Yeah, I guess you could bait a trap with a star, if you could get the thing to stay in the trap. Okay, nevermind. Shrimp away.

    Predatory Starfish removal

I have had a problem with one of the smaller varieties eating tubipora musica polyps. I found two such individuals mowing right through the center of my coral. I removed those two and the problem went away. The coral has subsequently regrown the lost polyps. I have never had the problem since...

    Superglue Gel Underwater?

At least you're getting your bacterial filter off to a good start and saving those poor damsals. :)

    New research Fronteirs

As an adjunct to nutrition, I think the next big husbandry issue being researched is going to involve the care of non-zooxanthellate corals. A lot of people are trying to figure out systems and feeding for a lot of beautiful animals. And the possibilities for exporting nutrients out of our...

    Superglue Gel Underwater?

Or, you can glue the candy cane to a small rock out of the water (good adhesion) and use a marine 2 part epoxy to attach the small rock to the larger one. Put the 2 part on the larger rock first, push the small rock in the center, and work the epoxy up around the base of the larger rock. The 2...

    I'm diving in (finally!)

Congratulations on the new tank and on doing all the research. I started my first tank about a year ago and am very happy with it. I did about a year of research before I started the tank and I've been very happy I did. You might want to read up on anemones at wetwebmedia, though. They are very...

    cycled... now what?

You might want to head over to: http://www.wetwebmedia.com and read their articles on anemones. Long story short, if you want an anemone, you should probably not have any other coral in your tank and you should probably wait six months (a year is better) before you put it in your tank. The...

    lets see the BLASTO'S!

To quote Mr. Calfo: From here: http://www.wetwebmedia.com/mussidfaqs.htm And I would say that from his quote above, feeding would certainly be in order. I feed my tank pretty heavily, so I tend not to target feed very much.

    lets see the BLASTO'S!

I've never tried them under PCs. Mine are under 250W MH, but at the very bottom and in the very front corner of a 2' tank.
