    I've moved my big one by slicing under it and moving it to a new rock, then using tulle (bridal netting) and rubber bands to hold it down on the new location.     The incident I had involving loss of oxygen took out fish and the shrimp, snails and crabs were apparently unaffected. Water parameters were all normal, temp was good, everything- just dead fish and shrimp from looking fine at bedtime to DOA in the morning.

    My brittle stars do that whenever I've done a major water change. Hasn't ever done anything to the tank, harmless. If I remeber rightly that's how they get rid of waste. It's kind of funny, like they're doing The Twist.

    I have a bunch of brittle stars, from tiny to pretty darn large, that are red/burgundy and white striped. It's very possible it's a small brittle star, does it have a round middle part to its body? Can you get to it with tweezers or something similar to remove it just in case?

    What do you like best? Do you like the forms and colors of the corals or the movement of the fish? Would you be happy with less expensive but colorful corals and keeping your fish, or would you prefer some less harmful less interesting fish? Me personally it's the fish. I love watching them...

    Need help setting up Nano

    +1 I have a 20g nano peninsula style with three damsels in it- a four-stripe, a deepwater yellow, and a true Fiji blue devil. They all get along, are active and colorful, and don't mess with the softies- zoas, lots of mushrooms, zenia, kenya tree, hand leather- plus the shrimps, crabs and snails.
