    6.6 gallon bookshelf aquarium

I bought this tank today at Petco. Tank dimensions 8.13"L x 24"W x 9.25"H. Also got a 24" Coralife T5 (2)24w. My husband gave me the idea to spray the back black for the background, but I don't have any black cans left. I do have white so I spray painted the bottom. 'Til tomorrow....should...

    Bare Bottom Pros and Cons

No problems with rocks sliding around in both tanks. 65g with sand has large base rocks. 45g (frag tank), rocks are 5"-6" tall and eggcrate sits on top.

Anyone know how to get rid of this stuff?

I helped a friend trying to get rid of those blue cloves with kalkwasser, it works but have to do it many times to get rid of them. They grow back very fast! Small frags I covered it with glue.

    Bare Bottom Pros and Cons

I like the sand look but do not like sometimes my wrasse gets into it and throw sand onto my lps. My other tank is bare bottom, now worries with sandstorm. The outside bottom is sprayed paint white to create the sand look. When coraline algae builds up I go in and scrape it off.

    MrGone's fish tank room

WOW!! Awesome fish room, so much real estate to play with. I would never get out of that room, rest of the house would be neglected.

    So what's the scoop??

I haven't mess with my tanks for 2-3 months, only because I was busy with holiday stuff. It was nice though not spending so many hours trying to make it look a certain way. I'll be spending a lot time soon gluing frags that have became mini colonies onto LR...moving things to make them fit. I...

what happened to my girlfriends arm?

I get it all the time too when dipping my hands in the tank, didn't even know I brushed my arm on a coral. Sometimes when it's not completely gone, by having my arm in the water without touching any corals will come back immediately.

    Advice and Critique Needed

For 45g frag tank I'm using Lumenmax reflector, 250w SE radium with icecap ballast. It's 5"-6" from water surface...my sps are more happy in the 45g than 65g.

    Christmas Shopping

I love it when my husband buys me clothes. He would pick out stuff I would never try on but looks good. I went shopping with a friend today....I was in line with her and was inpatient and went to another line so both of us can finish at the same time. When I was in line I noticed the male...

    What is your calcium level??

Me too. I test my calcium today and it was 320-340, why can't I keep mine higher? I guess I have to increase my dosing.

    Advice and Critique Needed

I have my MH about 7"-8" from the water surface, would like it lower. Seems like one 250w(DE Coralvue) is not strong enough for sps. My 65g is also 24" high. I'm using Icecap ballast for both tanks and really like it. Great job on the stand....will you have a hood?

    What is your calcium level??

    I don't have a calcium reactor so I have a hard time keeping mine at 400. Lately it's 300-350.
