Is there a topic on skimmate color

Hey all I have been pondering this since I added my BM 200 skimmer It does its job WELL the question I have it the color of the skimmate. Mine comes out a dark brown. I have seen several skimmers pull out a dark green skimmate. Why does mine come out a dark brown? Is there a thread about this...

    I cant keep mushrooms. Why?

Also I would liek to note- that is good growth of your cheato If you had a severe low nutriant level it would not grow that fast.

    I cant keep mushrooms. Why?

Gosh I know it has been covered but it sure sounds like a light issue. Do you have a pic with the tank lights on and their location?

    I cant keep mushrooms. Why?

Well... I dont know Does the cheato grow well? Shrooms are actualy a little hard to kill off. Kinda like xenia. Something is off to kill them. Also if you are keeping up on a few water changes I would watch that iodine dosing. I have read some interesting articles on that its easy to overdose...

    I cant keep mushrooms. Why?

Brandon what skimmer do you run and how often do you change water? There is a point where the water is too sterile.

    Feather Calupera in display

Also I need to add a note of caution When you go in to pluck this stuff you must make sure you dont fragment the algae. It will grow into new plants if you have good conditions to grow it. If you got frags with algae on it and now you are seeing it pop up in places then you have let some of...

    Algae problem

Yet again another tank with algae I dont know how long you have been into this saltwater addiction but you will soon find out how LITTLE nutrients (among other things) is needed to grow algae. Feed less Skim more Change water more and then wait oh and please make sure you are using good...

    Skimmer efficiency question

Its all about water surface tension You will find that by keeping your hands out of the water and rinsing your food that the skimmer will stay on top of what it does best.

    Just got a D40

Hey Scooter I too have the D40 and it seems that I am LOST in what all this stuff means. I am looking at buying a different lens for my close up tank shots and for also my kids sports/school events. The stock lens puts me too close to the shot. I almost have to be on the stage for my kids...

    Skimmer troubles again

I would have to second the change in water level. There is really only three things that will affect your production in a skimmer besides bio-load. The pump getting something in it (algae, muck, what ever it can suck up) Reaction chamber water height (ATO failure, changes in flow) Air...

    hair algae

Yes yes... Flake food and limited water changes may(or will) give you problems eventually. Flake food is loaded in PO4 which in turn is fertilizer for your algae. As an example- I have a 110G tank, feed 4Ml of Rods Food, Formula1 flake every other day, I run a Bubble Master 200 skimmer and...
