A little reading: Blue Coral Method

"Blowing it off as snake oil is ignorant " Then please enlighten me. Close minded? Not blindly following a so called method that has no reasoning behind it is just common sense. Evaluate bacterial reproduction? That is really old news. Here is a good start, a simple google will net tons of...

A little reading: Blue Coral Method

But where is there any proof that all of the benefits seen is not from just simply feeding the animals? Is there any actual science to back up the use of the aforementioned "additives" ? If not, then any percieved benefit is strictly ancedotal and has no meaning other than corals like to eat...

A little reading: Blue Coral Method

I am not trying to be offensive, but it is hard to maintain when I see yet another goofy "idea" tossed out yet again. Did it ever occur to anyone that just the simple act of feeding an animal might do it some good? Or as to why we should believe who ever came up with this? What are their...

A little reading: Blue Coral Method

It never ceases to amaze me at the extent some hobbyists will go as to finding that magic formula, with no regard to the long term heatlh of their pets. Chuck

oddball freaky weird mini ninja turtle nidibranchsnail?

They are most likely a slug and not a nudibranch, and given their description of matching the algae in appearance, I think its a safe bet to say that they feed soley on that species of algae. A few are not likely to be of any concern, but if they get to be too many, they could ruin your macro...

    Strange Monti Cap Predator

With "two antennae", I would guess it to be a spionid worm, which are very commonly found burrowed into coral's skeletons. Does the coral no harm and as noted earlier, the coral will grow to encrust it. Chuck

    crabs wanted

Hey Leslie, Once we get lined up for shipping / preserving, I can easily get a great many crab species and will be glad to include them in along with as many worms (of course) as possible. Location should be easy enough, I could probably give you GPS coordinates...lol I also think its a...

Its been a while (DAMN ICK!)

Normaly within 8 weeks, any remaining parasites, regardless of what stage of the life cycle they were in, should have died off by now. To prevent reinfesting your tank, any new fish should of course be quarantined / treated. Marine Ich Fish Disease Identification Guide Chuck

    Qt Q

The reproductive Ich encystment could be attached to the substrate (rock) that the zoanthids or any other coral is on. Short cutting a quarantine period for anything, in my opinion, is a really bad idea. Chuck

    ID's needed

To me, the worm appears to be a Phyllodicidae (paddleworm), of which I have a few very good examples of within my Hitch Hikers Page. There are also some "swarmer" (epitokes) examples as well. Chuck

    Acro fungus amungus

At first glance it looks like a sponge, its either that or necrotic coral tissue. Any chance you could focus in / center on the area in question and post another pic of it? Chuck
