Need Help Starting my 54g Corner Reef Tank!!!!!

egg crate Fyi,egg crate in the sand is an open invatation for hydrogen sulfide, due to the elimination of cross flow.Yes flow!though slight still important to not create areas that will become anoxic. And by the way.....isn't it a pain always having to cover it back up.I would drill your biggest...

    Catching a Fish

catch and release When that doesn't work get a small barbless hook, with its favorite treat on it and you should have that fish out in no time. Its important hook isn't barbed, and that you put fish in a place where you can gently remove the hook. This is almost compleatly harmless, much less...

    Miracle mud or live sand?

Live sand I would go with the live sand.Miricle mud needs to be changed when exuasted[much sooner than sand]and it has to sit for a day or two before you can start the pumps. It wouldn't be a bad idea to put it in only a portion of the refugium, and than cover with a little sand to eliminate the...

    My 75 low maintance tank

Water changes Water changes are the key to success,in my oppinon.I change about 20 to 40 % a month depending on the nitrates. The thing is,i have found that weather it is my sps tank or my mixed tank[The 75]trying to maintain perfect water quality by not feeding enough is not the best path to...

    My 75 low maintance tank

Higher algaes T he way to make sure algaes such as calupera,is to simply pull a little out once or twice a week. With this method i have never had a incedent of it going sexual.I think algaes add a bit of realness to a tank, and are great nutrient sinks. There are actually three varities of...

    My 75 low maintance tank

as for stoney And to add to this on the stoney end of things,i have found fox, bubble, trumpet, and hammers all do better in less than perfect water.Nitrates of 40 or less dont seem to be an issue, unless they are causing algae problems.

couple recent photos of L shape

Thanks for the good reviews. It's definatly not much fun to maintain, being 30 deep, and access only from the back.If you,ve never cleaned a L shape,it is trickey because it produces an illusion that makes your algae scraper disapear.[kinda hard to explain].The refugium is growing macro algae of...
