    Need help with plumbing

mammut, Is the impellar the only difference between the mag 3, 5, and 7? I know they are all use the same pump body. I stupidly undersized my return pump(on a 20g tank), and bought a mag 5. If just changing out the $10 impellar increases the flow to mag 7 levels, then I gotta try it. Beats...

pH drops as water sits out?

IO seems to be the salt of choice for alot of people. I just use Kent salt, because I can get it cheaper. From what I've read on RC, Kent buys there salt from the makers of IO, and then they boost some of the attributes. How true is that? I don't know.

Nice pix Cesar. Do you have any pix of the 2 anemone/soft coral tanks in the back of the restaurant? Thanks. Cool tank, Dang. I need to go eat over there again.

pH drops as water sits out?

Jonathan, Search for Oceanic salt on Reefcentral, and you'll find a lot of long threads about bad batches of Oceanic. I wasn't checking my pH regulary, until Flugelnuss on this board, tested all my tanks(3) and my saltwater storage container and found that they all had a pH of 7.4. All...

pH drops as water sits out?

Thanks for the reply and the cool links. I made up a new batch of water with a new bucket of Kent salt. The pH was around 8.3 compared to 7.4 that I would get with the Oceanic salt. Bad bucket. If anybody wants some Oceanic salt to test for other abnomalies, I got a lot left.

pH drops as water sits out?

Sorry to piggyback on this thread, but would the ph drop on saltwater if left out? I mix RO water and Oceanic salt in a covered Rubber maid trash can with a powerhead to a specific gravity of 1.025. When not used right away, the ph drops to a low 7.4 If I continously aerate it I can get the ph...

    Orange Lined Cardinalfish

In both pix, I believe the male is the lower of the two fish. Hence the rounding of the jaw. That's how my male peacock(cichlid) use to look when carrying eggs and/or babies in it's mouth.

What is growing on my blastamussa merleti??

If they're not feather dusters, then they're probably hydroids.

    I know its wrong but..

Sorry, it's seems I was wrong. The saltwater blocks the R/C clown from receiving radio transmissions. With the antenna submerged under saltwater, the clown does not receive any radio signals, so the propellar stops spinning. I tried it in a swimming pool and went about 3ft deep before losing...

    I know its wrong but..

Thanks to this thread, I bought 2 of the R/C clownfish. One for my nephew and one for me! Works really well in my fw catfish tank, but it struggles to dive in my reef tank. Bummer! I think saltwater is a little to buoyant for the little R/C clown. I can bug my catfish, but unfortunately not my...

Hatching Live brine Shrimp Right in my Reef

You can also feed the decapsilated eggs(cysts), directly to your fish and corals.

Hatching Live brine Shrimp Right in my Reef

I thought hatching brine shrimp required a higher salinity than the salinity in reef tanks. Sounds cool, though. Hope it works. If you use decapsilated eggs, than you wouldn't have to worry about the shells. You buy decapsilated eggs or decapsilate them yourself.
