The Skimming beast is dead....Long live beast ver 2

Mojo, The reason I referenced the ETS link was to ensure the factor of tank water turnover was included in the design discussion. I can see you have with the purity coefficient. Right now I am not convinced about the formula you provide. The reason is that when I was sizing my UV sterilzer...

The Skimming beast is dead....Long live beast ver 2

One thing I have not seen mentioned in this latest go on the thread is the number of tank turnovers desired. When you read the information posted on the ETS site, they recomend a minimum of 1 to optimally 4 tank volume turnover (processed through skimmer) per hour. At the slow rates discussed...

A 750g SPS system is born

Jeff, thanks for the PM on this thread. I was very successful in getting my MI's to eat. They actually fought with the tangs and rabbit fish for food. I started out by ordering them from Dr. Fosters and Smith, but before ordering I spoke with them about their statement on the web site that...

    Big Meeting in Tri-Cities

Don, Any chance might be able to round up some corals from the PSAS club for Anthony to propagate in his workshop? I just got off the phone with him and we are looking for some LPS corals that present more of a challenge than the acro's. Unfortunately my tank is nearly all acro's. He is also...

    Big Meeting in Tri-Cities

Don, The Pasco Red Lion is about 12 miles away. You might want to try the Hampton Inn in Richland, (1-509-943-4400, 1-800-HAMPTON). It is about 4 miles away. Great idea on the cooler. We also have collected a bunch of styro boxes in various sizes for people to use. It will be great to see...

    Idaho Marine Aquarium Society

Kim, Thanks for the offer. I think we are probably ok on the cheato and calurpa. I have two 40 gallon refugiums on my system, one is full of cheato and the other is full of sea grass. When local people have a need I have been able to keep them going. The frags sound awesome! Thanks Rick

    Idaho Marine Aquarium Society

Kim, I think that Umatilla would be a better option as it is closer to the Tri-Cities (35 miles) and still puts you in the same direction going towards Portland. Just give a call in time to meet you. I can give you a couple of locations that are easy to find. Thanks, Rick

    Idaho Marine Aquarium Society

Hi Kim, I think we can help you out with the frags. Either myself, Ed or someone else from our club can meet you Wednesday on you trip to Portland and get the frag into a tank that day. We can meet you in the Hermiston / Umatilla area which would be on your route to Portland. Then when you...

Craig, Welcome, it will be a whole lotta fun. Thanks for letting us know. We are trying to get a tally, could you possibly go to the Reeffrontiers post "Roll Call - Help needed" and complete the survey. The other alternative for us to get a head count is to go through all the threads and...
