    just tip the clam so you can see the byssal threads and cut the threads with a sharp knife as far away from the clam as you can. the byssal threads are a glandular secretion kinda like hair so the clam wont feel a thing

    they look really nice. your right moving them around a lot is not good, just clean the algae off every few weeks but dont let it get too bad. your corals have nice color so i bet the algae will slow down

    live foods are always going to be better then dead. a fairly good test for live phyto is to smell it, if it smells like the sea then its good, if it stinks then i would pass. you might also want to contact a local University and see if they have live phyto for you

    i think you will be fine. the ORP comming back up is a good thing. the major concern with a spawning in a closed system is from the die off of the gametes causing a bacteria bloom and sucking all the O2 out of the system

    welcome to reef frontiers hurlock i would make up as much water change water as you can and wait untill they are done then do as large of a water change as you can.
