Hello

I got a gold teardrop maxima last June or so. It had (when I got it), a patch of its mantle in between the intake syphon and the exit--whatever that's called--of white tissue that looked something like "powdery mildew."

I put the clam in a SW bath with Seachem Reef Dip (iodine based) for 20 minutes, and put the clam back in my tank. The bath didn't seem to make any difference in the white patch. Oh by the way, I also noticed my cleaner shrimp irritating the clam by always digging at this patch of white tissue...so after the bath I moved the clam into a different tank without cleaner shrimps.

Now months later, I noticed that there is a small hole in the center of the white patch, and a cleaner goby is now pestering the clam in this spot...like he's trying to eat away at the spot.

Does anyone know what this white stuff is and what I should treat it?

The clam has continued to grow since I've had it and shows good tissue expansion.
