How do you know if a clam has pyramid snails?

just an FYI, if you ever need to remove a clam thats attached to a rock, tip it to one side and take a sharp knife and cut the byssal threads as far away from the clam as you can. the threads are pretty much like our hair or finger nails, it wont hurt the clam at all

How do you know if a clam has pyramid snails?

Jan, if your seeing snails that look like this on the clam(especially around where the mantle and shell meet) then they are most likely pyrams some wrasses can be effective at controlling pyrams but unfortunately they will not eradicate them. pyrams feed at night and wrasses sleep at night ...

    Water Alkalinity

i would just let it fall on its own. i also wouldn't try to chase an "ideal" PH #. if you keep your alk between 8dkh and 12dkh your ph should never get critical. it will just float around depending on ambient CO2 and time of day

acclimation of corals from vho to metal halide

thanks, the urchin is doing fine. the only problem is it will graze over corals from time to time. i have 3 kinds of urchins and he's the only one that ive ever seen eat coral. i have a bunch of Lytechinus variegatus. they are cheep and better then any snails or crabs for a clean up crew.

acclimation of corals from vho to metal halide

sounds good but i would also add 5 or 6 layers of window screening across the top of the tank and after a week or two remove one layer every few days untill there gone then start to lengthen the photoperiod

    Maxima clam moving itself
