    not phosphate removers again!!!

Boomer and everyone, i saw a new type of phosphate remover and was wondering what you thought about it. http://www.championlighting.com/product.php?productid=14139&cat=738&page=1 how exactly does it work? is it an ion exchange resin? if so what does it exchange? how effective do you think...

    Clams dying need help!!

just to reiterate what Don said about using "cleaner clams" for nitrate control. these clams (cleaners) dont uptake N&P (nitrogen & phosphorus) the same way photosynthetic clams do. photosynthetic clams(tridacnids) can extract raw/dissolved N&P right out of the water to pass onto there zoox...

    Clams dying need help!!

nitrates at a level of 50ppm is high and may be detrimental to the over all health of the tank but wont have a deadly effect on clams. on the other hand having even a detectable amount of nitrites leads me to believe you have something else going on.

    refractometer drifting

ok, so is the salt rusting something inside or are you saying salt residue inside is changing the refractive index? if its the later i should be able to rinse it out good, and it should work right? i still havent gotten off of KP from my last blunder so i hope it can still be used:oops:

    refractometer drifting

three clownfish larva tanks, 3 rotifer cultures, 25% water changes on all of these a day so we are constantly making new water at different SG's. i just found a Milwaukee conductivity tester i had storied away, anyone ever use one?

    refractometer drifting

i cant remember if i rinsed it in ro:confused: i know the glass hydrometers are good but we do so many SG tests per day that they are a pain.

    refractometer drifting

about two weeks ago i dropped my refractometer into our salt water storage container. pulled it right out and took it apart as far as i could, dried it out on top of the AC vent for a few hours but it back together and recalibrated it with Randys calibration standard. a week later i thought it...

    It's gone....

a agree that the clam could have been on its way out, however far too often predatory whelks are misidentified and sold as reef safe Nassarius
