Help with Red Hair Algae Problem

I like to buy a few here and a few there rather then dumping them all in at once. That way you can also base it off your tank and it's needs. Astria snails are a good well rounded snail that keep the tank pretty clean. Hermit crabs are another option that is pretty controversial. I personally...

Help with Red Hair Algae Problem

IMO turbo snails are the best. Kind of big though so make sure those corals get glued down real well. Nassarius are great for your sand bed, they roam around in the sand digging through it all day keepIng the top layer turned over. As far as hair algae I don't think they do much for that. Dennis

Help with Red Hair Algae Problem

Yeah those guys do great, I have 10 in my 110, but remember they still only mask the problem. You will still want to find what is causing your high nutrient problem.Dennis

    Dennis' 250DD Build

So here is something I actually did a couple weeks ago. I had a dedicated cercuit put in for the tank. I made a thread about it you can fnd here http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/f14/dedicated-circuit-63763/ and got a lot of my questions answered. I ended up just hiring an electrician to come...

    Dennis' 250DD Build

Thanks I appreciate the advise I'll probably use the halides to slowly transfer the corals over so I can keep both tanks lit. I bet transferring them from halides to led's then back to halides and finally to led's will be rather stressful on them... HmmmThanks again!Dennis

    Dennis' 250DD Build

Thanks for following along guys! To answer your question I think it was about $140 custom cut and delivered to my door for 3/8" Starboard from TAP Plastics.

    Dennis' 250DD Build

The old tank I was thinking of selling it. I would like to mix and match what I have between the 2 tanks and sell it as a whole plug and play unit. I now have 4 400w halides that I can sell with the 110g tank, but I think 400w is kind of overkill... I think this setup is more geared for 2 250w...

    Dennis' 250DD Build

Okay so I guess its about time I get this build thread going! I currently have a 110g 60"L,18"W,24"H acrylic tank. I had not even considered upgrading until my buddy Steven (Steven11) asked if I knew anyone looking for a 250 plug and play system. I have always admired his tank and humored taking...

Help with Red Hair Algae Problem

My first guess would be its from your water source. Are you using RO/DI? If you are I would check it with a TDS meter. Dennis

    Greeeaat power outage

I doubt it will be long maybe a couple hours tank will be fine... You could always wrap it in blankets to help insulate it and keep it warm. Dennis

    The good purple algae

Sounds like you think keeping coraline algae in the tank helps benefit the tank in someway. Where as the fact that it is growing at all is what represents a healthy tank. If anything the stuff is depleting your calcium levels...I dont believe there is any added benifit with having it in your...

    Dedicated circuit

Okay that's good to know I will probably do that then. I run led's tho so that's why my wattage isn't through the roof. Yes of course I'll make a build thread I just haven't gotten around to it. :(

    Dedicated circuit

I think this 250g is going to be big enough for my condo lol! I wasn't even planning on upgrading untill I got a a bigger house but we wanted to put hardwood floors in so... Anyway Ill probably ask them to quote both ways and then depending on the price. I certainly dont think I will need 2...

    Dedicated circuit

I do own the condo, but I would have to agree that this needs to be done by a pro in case the wiring will affect the people around me. Plus I would have no idea how to pull the wires through the walls without having access to above or below. I called "Washington Electric" and talked to Eric and...

    Dedicated circuit

Okay thanks for the advice I'll look around my area and see if I can get some quotes for this. I live in a condo so I can't exactly go up in the attic... And I have no idea if I can get under this place...Dennis

    Dedicated circuit

Hey guys I'm looking to dedicate two outlets in my living room to the tank and was wondering if you had any recommendations? Usually I like to do this stuff myself, but this kind of makes me nervous lol. It would have to go from the living room through the kitchen and outside where our circuit...
