As good as it may be to have corliegn algae ( spl )
I just got thru telling my wife how much i hated when it grew on the glass of people tanks.
Well today i noticed i have spots all over her 20 gal... I know great, buttt i hate it.

So i want to vote, do i keep it on the sides and front? Or just scrape the front? And maybe one side.

Also what is a good way to scrape it? A razorblade?
I work with glass at work so im sure, but just to be safe.

Sounds like you think keeping coraline algae in the tank helps benefit the tank in someway. Where as the fact that it is growing at all is what represents a healthy tank. If anything the stuff is depleting your calcium levels...I dont believe there is any added benifit with having it in your tank just that your tank is maturing and healthy. I think most people like the look of it especially when its covering the rock. I do believe where coraline grows other algaes cant so that may also be a benifit. But as far as the glass is concerned I would scrape as much as your little heart desires.

My tank is acrylic and I simply use a credit card to get the stuff off the front and sides.

I love it on the rocks and on the back wall of my tank (which would otherwise be black.) But I scrape it off of all the glass with a metal scraper. I don't like it on the glass, either...

If you really hate it, a tuxedo urchin loves to eat it...mine did a number on mine for ages, but eventually it outgrew his capacity to eat all of it :)

Yeah, i have heard that, about calcium levels.

Cool thanks guys. Definitly going to scrape it off... I dislike the look of it.

All depends on the look you like. Some let it go crazy some scrape and scrape. I let it grow as much as it wants on the rock but take it off the glass.

You can buy a fancy scraper or just use a credit card. If you have glass you could use a razor but be carful you can still scratch it.
