A 750g SPS system is born

I can. I ahve to figure something out today when I get home. I turned on the actinics last night, but the other problem with lighting is heat! It has been unseasonally cold here in the last couple of days, but it is warming back up again. That with no chiller is not a good combination. I would...

A 750g SPS system is born

I have a regular generator. Need gasoline to run it. I am installing a whole house generator for next year and will be connected to a 500g propane tank. Right now I have to go get gas every so often. I don't know how long it will be before I get electricity back. More later.

Wilma: Coming this summer to a channel near you!!!

Had some damage to the roof, but minor really. 95%+ of Palm Beach County (one of the largest and most populated in FL) has no power and they are talking about 2-8 weeks depending on where you are!!! This generator crap is going to get old soon. Thank god it was cold yesterday and today!! If this...

Wilma: Coming this summer to a channel near you!!!

I am alive, but not by much really. I have been in 9 hurricanes so far and this is by far the worst I have experienced. No power here, no computer, not nothing. 6 million in the area without power. Tank is running on generator. Have some gas on site, but will be trying to get more soon. I am at...

Wilma: Coming this summer to a channel near you!!!

The way I look at it, hurricanes only last a few hours and I know they are coming days ahead of time. If I want to get out of the path, I can always get on my car or a plane and leave. Snow, ice, rainy and overcasted days forever, tornados. Well, do I really need to tell anyone about them...

A 750g SPS system is born

Nope, it did not ahve any foam at all. I have been without a skimmer for 2 weeks now. It will need some time to break in. The bigger bubbles you see in the picture are stucked on the walls and not coming from the skimmer itself. There is so much air that comes out of this thing that you are so...

A 750g SPS system is born

The beast is finally alive!!!! I replaced the bulkhead that had split and did not even have to cut the air stone manifold! That was so sweet to do as it would have been a major pain in the rear. Here are a couple of shots. I was going to run it and take pictures at 0, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24, 48 hours...

    Eye candy of the day!!

It is commonly known as an angler fish (Antennarius commersoni) from the Indo-Pacific. No uncommon at all, but they come in so many colors ranging from black to white and red or yellow in beween. I find them to be very cool fish.

A 750g SPS system is born

Problem 2 above is not fixed yet = no skimmer running yet. Trust me when I say I am more anxious about it running and showing how it works than anyone else I know of. As soon as it is running, I will post pictures at 0 hours, 2,4,6,12,24,48, and 1 week!

    Eye candy of the day!!

I was just bored here waiting for hurricane Wilma to rip us a new hole, so I figured I would take a couple of shots. Wilma is going so slow you could probably out run it by foot!! Resizing, adjusting, uploading, and later posting is an energy consuming task, so I am only posting a couple of...

A 750g SPS system is born

Well, I had been considering to give a Moorish Idol a try for a long time, but it was not until I saw John Coppolino's tank (copps) during MACNA and saw his MI that I really got fired up about it. A local friend had gotten a gorgeous one about 3 months ago. It had just gotten in to the store...

A 750g SPS system is born

Yep, just about everything metal along the water where the equipment is have tons of rust. The rreason is that the fan I have blowing across the sump and equipment blows so much air (Iguess I can turn it down) that it actually cools everything. With humidity in FL on an average day close to...

A 750g SPS system is born

¥ou must have missed the part where I said I left the valve closed. There is a drain valve in the collection cup, which was closed by mistake. That is why pressure kept on building up.
