    the old rule of thumb is 1.5lbs-2lbs of live rock per gallon. I think this would be a good start.

    40 gallons including air space. :) It depends on the size of the area that you want to keep live rock in, and the level you wish to keep you water at in the sump.

    I have one on my small system it worked great fora month or so, it was a real cool looking(clear). It grew coralline faster than anything I have ever seen. does it work now, Nope. What a waste of time.

    Hey Rocky, I have a lid that will be sealing the sump to cut down on the evaporation, In the garage. I'm sure there will still be some but it should help. PS. you still need to come over and have a look for some trading. Sorry for going off topic Matt.

    I was getting a ¼ - ½ inch bubble every half second or so entering the skimmer (this is with tap water). The bubbles became less frequent after a few minute of testing. I’m sure that the bubbles I’m getting are ok, and will not affect performance. I think it’s more about getting the correct...

    Matt, I run mine just below the waters surface. On my new setup the drain goes all the way to the bottom but it has slits cut in the pipe to let the water out, it seem to work really well also. Here is a picture of the slits, I’ll take a closer one latter if you want.
