    What size overflow/return pump?

I had a cpr cs102 overflow which is rated for 1200gph on my old 30g along with a mag7 return pump rated at 700gph and it worked just fine. Your overflow can handle a return pump up to 950gph but if you think it's too much flow you can always add a gate valve to the return line to slow the output...

    Starting the cycle question

Thanks for the info bigAl. Very helpful advice. Never thought of the phosphates in adding food so maybe I will just add shrimp.

    Starting the cycle question

I have a total of about 35lbs of rock but only 5-8lbs of that is live. Thanks Krish! Even tho I've been doing this for a while I still feel like a noob. I'm thinking about trying the ghost feeding thing. See if that'll help speed things up a bit.

    Starting the cycle question

I've had the tank set up for about 6 days and introduced the live rock about 3 days ago and amonia is reading 1.0 I would like to avoid putting the fish through the cycle if I can help it. I'll give it a few days and see what my water parims are at. Thanks for the advice.

    Starting the cycle question

I've started up a 30g cube and added some live sand and about 5lbs of live rock that I got from a friends tank. This is the first time that I haven't used damsels to start the cycle. So my question is will this be enough to start the cycle or should I put a piece of shrimp in the tank also...

Been a while since i've had a tank due to my work hours but got new hours and a new tank. Found a 30g Oceanic cube on CL for a reasonable price, planned on bigger but I think the 30 will do for now. Also found a pretty decent deal on an apollo led fixture. running a CPR bak pak skimmer, and a...

I wen't from a 20D to the xsi, although some might think it's a step in the wrong direction, I feel that this camera fits me a little better than the 20D. T1i is a very nice camera, might wait a little bit for the T2i...

    Getting back in... 20L

About a year and a half ago I decided to break down my reef tank and sell everything off due to money issues. Now, with my finances a little more stable I've decided to start another small reef. This is the beginning of my new 20L. Nothing fancy, just trying to do this as inexspensive as...
