    Which Janitors??

Definitely you have a small clean up crew for that size tank. I would double it on the snails and add about a dozen hermits at least. I personally would put about 24 small Dwarf Blue Leg Hermits in myself were it my tank. I dont suggest the sally lightfoot crab unless its really small and you...

    AquaClear Powerhead water filters

I am using a Aqua-Clear 500 on a Nano with foam but no skimmer no skimmer. So far Nitrates and other water parameters havent been a problem. But I have multiple Foam inserts, and change it out every 5-7 days without fail, and wash it out thoroughly and allow spares to air dry. I also do 10%...

    20g Lighting

24 gallon Nano hoped this worked..... Okay one more try..... Sorry its not a better pic but thats the best I could do since I am not a Computer Geek and the computer is obviously 2% (probably more :D ) smarter than I am. The lighting is a tad bluer in the pic than reality...

    20g Lighting

In a tank that small thats the route I would take. But thats just my opinion....

    Switching Algea's

Yes I would recommend the same routine myslef for switching out Macros. I have had my Chaeto under 24/7 and reverse only lighting schedules and seen not real tangible results so I am just using reverse only right now.

    hello

Welcome to the forum. Yeah that kinda thing happens more than we would like to admit, unfortunately. Well we will all here be happy to help out where we can I am sure. Good luck and I hope the second time around is a lot better. With a 100 lbs of "dead rock" already it looks like another 25...

    More Dumb questions......

Yep, disturbing that sand bed more than likely did your anenome in. Irregardless your tank was going to have at least a mild cycle at best. Using sand from a FO system you will normally find that the sand is saturated with nutrients as well unless it was scruplously maintained. JMHO....

    Sump equipment

I used a mix of Oolitic sand and GARF Grunge Light in mine with about 3 inches of depth. I have mangroves and Chaeto Algae growing in mine but I do have a considerable amount of (DIY)live rock rubble in there as well. Dont know if this is the "Right Way" but its working pretty well for me....

    Metal Halide Bulbs/Spectrum

With your 250 watt HQI /T-5 set up using 10K bulbs...you should be able to keep just about any SPS/Clam that you want as long as they have high light requirements. Changing to a 20K bulb might make your corals more florescent under that lighting but growth in all probability would slow down and...

Sea Anenome twisting arms and severing

BTA's and RBTA's need to be kept under some pretty decent lighting. I feed mine about once a week to 10 days and it seems to do fine. I usually feed a small piece of Shrimp or Krill or cut Squid. This seems to work well as it has not only slpit for me but it has also increased again to about...

Easy Sump ideas for a 29 gallon tank

Katchupoy, Nice layout and pic of the 10 gallon sump. Might have to try that one out for my Nano-Reef! Thanks for the idea.....

    Tank startup question

Using it at this point would be a waste for all intents and purposes. I would wait until the cycle is finished and I start adding more than a coral/clam or two. Just my opinion though....

    Sump Refugium

From my own personal experiences with refugiums, no matter the size...they are always a good thing! I am also of the "Go bigger or stay home" crowd too so I favor the biggest refugium you can cram into a system. But a HUGE refugium is not neccessarlily needed. To maximize its effectiveness...

Thanks for the references, they made for some interesting reading!

    Metal Halide Bulbs/Spectrum

I am using 10K's right now with actinic VHOs and it looks pretty good, white with a slight hint of blue. But to be honest with you...I am thinking about going with 12-14K bulbs though so I can get a touch more blue tint to the light. Like WaterDogs I cant see doing 20K's as they are way too...

    seattle pet shops

Under the Sea Mt Vernon off the Kencaide (sp?) exit, a short drive to the right on first street #612. Would be my first stop on the way to Seattle if I were visiting. Small place but dirt cheap prices that are rock bottom. Phone is 360-336-8133. As small as it is my friend says its best to...
