    Coral & Algae Question

Thanks eveyone. It takes a lot of elbow to get it off! Maybe its not coralline. My tank doesn't seem to want to grow coralline. I guess that is not necessarily a bad thing from some of the reading I've done in this forum. Thanks again!

How to get rid of copper safe in an acrlyic tank

IMO, If you are going to run a reef system, you should drain all of the water, clean all of the equipment and start fresh with RO/DI water and Tropic Marin salt mix. Usually the best way to get copper safe out of the system is weekly changes in the carbon but I wouldn't take the chance of using...

    Coral & Algae Question

Hi all, There a few pics below to reference. I have green algae growing on the tank that doesn't scrap off! I assume it is coralline but thought I'd ask. Also, I have attached a couple of pictures of leather coral. Can someone Id? Also, the mushroom looking coral does not seem to be doing...

    Nitrate and Phosphate Question

Canister filters only have brand new carbon (since Friday). I just changed 50% of the water. Nitrate reads 20 PPM. It is back on the charts but it was 20PPM before the water change. I have checked every nook and cranny of the tank, it is clean including the sand bed. Do you have any...

    Nitrate and Phosphate Question

Thanks everyone. I will remove the bio balls slowly and remove the sponges. I will also replace the carbon. I am not sure what the kelvin is on the bulb. I have seen many people recommend those spirals for fuges so I thought I would give it a try.

    Nitrate and Phosphate Question

That helps. I find it interesting. I use the Fluval 104 as the pump for the fuge that over flows back into the tank. I don't think my chaeto is growing at all. I use the Home Depot 23 watt compact flourescent spiral. I have another fuge on another tank that uses a coralife compact F meant...

    Nitrate and Phosphate Question

That's just it. Sometimes it drops and usually it doesn't. I can't imagine that my bio filtration is not enough. I had way too many fish in this tank before with the same filtration and everything was zero. It is a mystery to me. Only once in the past few weeks did the nitrates and...

    Nitrate and Phosphate Question

The refugium is about 2.5 gallons full of chaeto and about an inch of arogonate. I have bio balls, carbon, phosguard, and polyfiber in the canisters. I use salifert test kits. I have not changed the carbon in quite some time. I usually only rinse it out in clean salt water. The carbon socks...

    Nitrate and Phosphate Question

I hate to do this but I have read and read and read some more about Nitrate and Phosphate problems and I can not get a handle on my situation. I have a 20 gallon hex with a protein skimmer, UV light, Refugium, Seastorm, Fluval 404 and Fluval 104, sand, 10 or so lbs of live rock, SPS, Yellow...

    Unidentified Critter?

NO. I just never seen them before. They were just hanging out on the bottom near the glass. Thanks for the input. I think they were Sphaeromatids.

    Unidentified Critter?

I was looking in my tank last night as I frequently do and noticed three bug looking animals. I am familiar with Pods but these guys looked different. They looked like a white Rhino Beetle and small. My guess it is some type of isopod but I never seen one like it. Has anyone come across...

    Sick tang?

THAT'S GOOD NEWS! I am having a problem with a Mandarin now. It was eating Frozen Brine Shrimp (amazingly) and Copepods for the first few days I had it but now has seem uninterested in eating. It didn't look so hot when I first purchased it (I know..... mistake) but pride told me I could...

Hypselodoris Apolegma (Purple Sea Slug) Interesting

Well, it may have been a false alarm. I don't think it was eating but preparing to lay eggs (see below). I hope the eggs are good food for the fish and other habitants. I am still interested in other experience's people may have had with this slug.

Hypselodoris Apolegma (Purple Sea Slug) Interesting

Hi all, I have made a mistake of many today and purchased an HA. I know it is not a "Purple Sea Slug" but noticed a lot of people have purchased one under that name or searched for it with that name. I have attached an interesting picture (not the best). It has been several hours since I...
