Please help, my clown has a disease

How long have you had the fish? Is it wild caught? Did you quarantine it beofre adding it to your display? Do you know what brooklynella is? Terry B

    sick lion

Lionfish should not be fed every day, especially in amounts that make the stomach bulge. They can become impacted and the food literally rots inside them before they can digest it. This is a common problem with lionfish. I suggest that you move the fish to quarantine. Use water from the display...

    yllw tail tang (hippo)

If fish are badly stressed it can affect their eating behaviors and appetite. What are you feeding the fish? What are the other fish in the tank? How large is the aquarium? Do you notice anything that would stress the fish? What are all of your water parameters? Terry B

    sick lion

What do you feed the lion, how much at one time and how often? Lions often get inpacted from overfeeding which can lead to an internal bacterial infection. Terry B

    Yellow Tang is turning Red...

This can be a low grade (starts that way) vibrio bacteria infection which is sometimes referred to as "Red Pest". It is an indicator of some sort of stress in the system. A low PH is often the culprit. The good news is that many times all that is required is a large water change using well aged...

Help Help!! dog face puffer sick!

It would be better to mix and aerate the saltwater for 24+ hours before using it. It takes time for all the salts to dissolve fully and for the water to stablize chemically. Raw saltwater is very irritating to delicate gill tissues and it causes stress for the fish. large water changes will...

    please help

It is not really normal for tangs to itch, but it is not always ich. Something in the water may be causing it or it could be gill flukes. Gill flukes are best treated with a series of formalin dips. For now, I would just keep an eye on it and make large water changes using well aged and aerated...

    Clowns turning black, why?

Its not harmful to the fish outwardly, but you may want to consider what the clowns are hosted by. Cheers, Terry B

Help Help!! dog face puffer sick!

It sounds like you tank is new and has not cycled yet. It is better to cycle a tank without any fish in it so they are not put at risk. What else is in this tank? You should feed very little until the tank has cycled. You are going to have to continue making lots of water changes. Any trace of...

    please help

Is the fish in quaratine or did you add it directly into your display tank? Is this a reef tank or a fish only system without inverts or live rock? It may very well be ich. Sometimes it takes a week or more to become visible. How good is your eyeysight? HTH, Terry B

    melafix and copods

Although I have not heard of Melafix killing off Pods I have not heard that it kills parasites either. Who recommended Melafix for parasites? What sort of parasite do your fish have? What are the symptoms? Do you quarantine before adding a new fish? Terry B

    Can Fish Choke on Food?

I have seen anglers swallow food that was too large and they can die from it. The food literally spoils in their stomach before they can digest it. Terry B

    Problems...

Cut way back on feeding and avoid flake foods for now. Along with lots of water changes using well aged and aerated saltwater you could add some Poly Filter by Poly Bio Marine to remove a lot of the ammonia. If you can move most or all of the fish to a cycled tank then do it. HTH, Terry B

    Injury on Clarkii

That is good news that she is healing. It may take several weeks to heal fully and then she will probably have a scar. Terry B

    two mandarins

I can't see the first fin clearly, but judging by the shape of the head it looks like a female. Keep a close eye on her underside to monitor if she is getting enough to eat. Terry B

    Cloudy eye

Lionfish are sensitive to copper and copper probably won't help cloudy eye anyway. It is a good idea to keep a cycled Qtank running at all times and a supply of meds handy. Sorry your fish didn't make it. Terry B

    two mandarins

The photos are not clear enough to determine if it is a female. Sometimes the first fin gets damaged so you can't always go by that. I would suggest reading the articles about mandarins on my Website to learn more about feeding them. You can't put it back in the other tank as long as the male is...

Help my yellow tang has white film over his eye

Often the result of netting. Depending on how severe the cloudy eye is, it may respond to a large water change using well aged and aerated saltwater. If not then Maracyn-Two at the double dose for 7 days is a good choice. HTH, Terry B

    two mandarins

I think that moving her away from the larger male is a good idea. I have never seen a male attack a female like you describe. They may chase the female a little at first but not to the point that they are biting and holding on. More often, a female will nip at a curious male in the beginning...
