    Your lights are fine, add a skimmer ASAP. As for powerheads, I have a Hydor #1, and it is rated at 400 gph, my Maxi Jet 1200 is only rated at 295 gph, but it definately puts out alot more water than the Hydor.

    Are the two 55's glass? I don't think it's recommended to drill tempered glass, just check on it. If you can yes I would drill and connect, one for equipment, and the other as a refugium perhaps?!

    I think that the root of your problem lies with your sand bed! 2 inches isn't enough for NNR (natural nitrate reduction), it is better to either go with 3/4 of an inch or less, or 3 inches or more.

    Yes you can add to it, but do it slowly, only 1/4th to 1/2 an inch at a time, spread out over a few weeks.

    yeah, that deep needs to have the 250's. and 3 of them. Just make sure that you get everything that you want or you won't be happy with it. such as actinics, moonlights, fans, anything else.
