Hi again donovan.....if you can get a transformer(12 volt easy!...high amps though!) then some of the latest car headlights using the new Xenon-plasma technology bulbs might just be the ticket for your setup...these lights are very blue/white without that yellow. Maybe the future for fish only...

    Skimming conversation

    Skimming conversation

Dont know if anyone has asked this....but given the fact that most skimmers are based on simple principles with relatively simple construction methods......Why are they so dam expensive? Take the Deltec range...what do you have ...A tube with a few bits of pipes etc stuck to it with a big cup on...

    Skimming conversation

Excellent question Don! The answer is yes!.............If you can create a whirlpool effect in a wide skimmer you effectivly lengthen the path the bubbles take before reaching the top....some of the big Multi pump Deltecs seem to show this rotation in the reaction tube. The direct relation to...

Normally the smaller the bubble size the better and the longer the contact time the better...research suggests the air bubble suface can go on attracting protein and other wastes to its surface for up to 12 Mins !!! in controled studies. We dont need to go this far! The important thing with any...

    Copper used 2 years ago

Sounds a good idea thanks again steve.........maybe i could take a small chunk of tufa out and dissolve it using say citric acid...then if there is any copper it would be liberated from the calcium carbonate and chelate with the citric acid.......this would still be detectable using test kits...

cheers ''Ed Hahn''..........all copper tests done recently ...without polyfilter being used for over two years now..... I was wondering about your reply and it seems the easiest one to go for ...pods are dirt cheap (scrounge some from my mate!) and they would soon die if there was any residual...
