Very nice Ted. ROIIs right? Looks good!

Chuck,

Thanks. Yes. ROIIs. If I move the ROII's I could actually fit one more in the canopy. I may do that. I'm going to try this for a while. My biggest concern right now is the color of the two bulbs. The left is yellow compared to the right. I'm hoping it's just the bulbs "breaking in".

Ted

This morning I swapped the bulbs before they turned on. Good news I guess....the problem is the bulb. That's better than a problem with an Ice Cap ballast.....

Lookin good TED!!

Usually can't go wrong with a lighting upgrade :) The corals will like it, hmm and that monti will grow more!

Bulbs have been powered about 18 hours.

There is no orientation on a 10K Ushio Mogul bulb. It takes about 100 hours to burn in a bulb. I'm hoping the yellow goes away by the end of next week. We'll see....

Nator...

Please check bulb nipple orientation... Please point it up... 12 o clock...

Nator,

what do you mean by no orientation on Ushio.... I thought that this is true for all bulbs about the nipple orientation...

What do mean by nipple? SE bulbs don't have nipplies in my experience. I understand that DE bulbs have nipples. My experience is only with mogul socket (specifically, only 10k Ushio) bulbs. There is no orientation indicator of any kind on the bulb. You thread into your mogul socket as you would with a regular light bulb in a regular light socket.

That maybe true... but people like Icecaps and Coralvue's that made their own bulb are the one that told me.... to orient the nipple upward...

And IME... it makes a big difference.

Just my 0.02 cents

Cesar,

I'll give it a try. It can't hurt. I've talked to the vendor and asked me to try burning the bulb before returning it.

I would try it.

My XM 10k was looking yellow recently, kind of annoying me.

When I did my once/twice monthly bulb/reflector cleaning this weekend + adjusted the bulbs in the process of cleaning them ... no more yellow-bulb.

Maybe it's voodoo, maybe it's just as yellow - all I can say is that I'm happier with it and all I did is turn it a little. Now it's like it was before the last cleaning when I didn't adjust it right IMO.

Then again, Harker could be right - it could be all in our heads. Either way, it was an easy way to adjust either the color or my head, whomever you'd like to believe ;)
