    Do what I did to my ER skimmer. Add a pvc reducer bushing and a T to the existing slide tube so you can direct the flow and use the skimmer inside or outside the tank. I have photos on my site.

    The commercial connection was a std.PVC union w/ oring seal. I cut off both ends to make it thiiner and remove unneccesaary bulk for looks. It also allow me to disassemble for cleaning. It was almost identical the ER union when I got done.

    Added Note: My comments are based on using a pinwheel pump for a closed loop skimmer. If the pinwheel is also the feed pumps....it won't work very well for tall skimmers. It it too inefficient a pump and cannot over come the static head. :eek:
