    J-Ranko's 15 Gallon Rimless Nano

I'm in the process of breaking down this tank as I am moving in only a couple of weeks. I've already posted some stuff in the classifieds. Too bad I couldn't keep it going for longer, but I'll have another tank eventually.

    J-Ranko's 15 Gallon Rimless Nano

Thanks, dailydriven. The blenny was my favorite fish. It seems I have the worst luck with fish for some reason. When I started my first reef tank years ago I had an outbreak of ich kill all my fish. I took a break from the hobby for a few years, came back and did a nano. Stupid me I...

    J-Ranko's 15 Gallon Rimless Nano

Sorry about the lack of updates. My tank has been experiencing some difficulties. My pike blenny died swiftly and mysteriously two weeks ago (evening of April 8). Then three days ago my clownfish got what is most likely brooklynella. My royal gramma, which has been scratching its gills on...

    New pic

Barrier Reef occasionally carry sun corals. I got this one back in January. The pic was taken on 4/3/11. BTW, I was only joking about them being aiptasia. (They do have some strong resemblance in the shape of the polyps.)

    New pic

This must be an oblique reference to my tank. I have tons of yellow and green aiptasia-like things: These ones like to grow in branches and clusters. Would peppermint shrimp or berghias take care of these guys?

    J-Ranko's 15 Gallon Rimless Nano

Thanks, krish. I think they're mostly nocturnal in the wild so you'll have to go night diving to see them in the reefs. Though I've read some divers have actually seen them out in directly sunlight! Thanks, 10gnano. I tend to post more at nano-reef, but only because it takes a bit more...

Not all is bad news for my acroporas. Here's a group shot of the ones that appear to be unaffected (taken 3/31/11): These are larger crops of that same shot: They're all exhibiting good growth and polyp extension. And no bite marks, eggs, or STN. I've treated my torts to the dip...

    Little Blenny, Giant Clam

Thanks, IPisces! Thanks, Tureefik87! I managed to snap a pic of him with his mouth open (I don't think it's as wide as possible): He's venturing out more frequently and he really likes to hang out by the clam. Here he is again:

    Little Blenny, Giant Clam

After several days of hiding my pikeblenny ventured out into the open today and I was able to take some pictures with my new Nikon DSLR (using kit lens). He rested on the sand bed next to my smallish Derasa clam: My clam is not by any means "giant" yet, but next to this slender little fish...

Great shots Brie! The reef gods are so cruel to me...just found out I had AEFW right as you guys get a ton of awesome acros. :ohwell:

    Treating acro eating flatworms?

I just discovered my two tort frags (ice tort and oregon tort) are infested with acro eating flatworms. Over the last few weeks I observed the following things on them: 1. General loss of color and no polyp extension 2. No growth, and light "patches" on the coral body 3. Fish picking out...

    J-Ranko's 15 Gallon Rimless Nano

Thanks, guys. Unfortunately I have some really bad news. Over the last few weeks I noticed my blue tort and my ice tort stopped growing and bleached, then noticed weird marks on their body. I thought it was the light so I lowered the ice tort and waited it out. They did not improved, and...

    J-Ranko's 15 Gallon Rimless Nano

Thanks, krish! It's still breaking-in, hopefully it'll be skimming in a couple of days. Anyways, here are some pics of my new fish! I added this male orange throat pike blenny on Friday night. Here's a shot taken with flash at night (lights were off) just hours after it was released into...

    J-Ranko's 15 Gallon Rimless Nano

Huge skimmer upgrade: With my bioload getting bigger and my feedings getting heavy, this baby should be a big help. It's rated for up to 100 gallons but my display is only 15 gallons. Hopefully it won't be too oversized for the tank. I probably won't put it in my sump until tomorrow night...

New fish - male Orange Throat Pike Blenny

I just got a small one from Barrier Reef and it's acclimating now. :) His colors and pattern are pretty amazing. He seems a bit small compared to my other fish--mainly because he's very thin although elongated like an eel.
