    LFS needs help

    Would you qt every single fish? There are certain species that I know travel very well and eat after a minute of being in the tank. We usually only qt things that are in obvious need of treatment, but I think we may try to start doing more. Will be a tough sell to the owner, but I would...

    Question about distilled water

    I used walmarts water for years. It is also the cheapest I could find. Look into upgrading your RO unit though. I used a little RO unit like that for a couple of months, it was such a waste of time and money. Like lots of equipment in this hobby we buy something cheap to begin with, then get...

    "I had H2O checked professionally, and all was great." All =??? Professional=???LFS? What are you checking water parameter wise as well? Disapeared = hadn't looked at my tank in a week? overnight?

    Something eating my torch! PICTURE!!

    Looks awsome. Really like the tank. Image made me think of something though. I'm not too familiar with what this would look like, but perhaps you have had a frag of a coral roaming around and stinging things? Just saw your huge anemone. Are the animals you've had trouble close to each...

    Something eating my torch! PICTURE!!

    "Everyone says" you got everyones opinion already? Was that in another thread? I would doubt the experience of this everyone especially with the urchin comment. First off I would get the worm IDed. It could very well have just been there to eat the already dead part of the animal. To me it...

    Hum... different looking critter. See if you can get an ID on it. Then perhaps you can figure out if it was the culpret and if your likly to have more of them.

    Calfo please help. Mixed advice on flatworms.

    Well like I said the tanks are just frag tanks and are bare bottom. I plan on reseeding new tanks with LR from another tank. The tanks that the corals are in now will have there rocks placed in boiling fresh water and the tanks will be emptied and completely washed out. Unfortunately one of...

    Calfo please help. Mixed advice on flatworms.

    Well fortunately all most of the systems are separated and all can be separated. They are also bare bottom and some are fishless. I have been considering removing all of the corals from the rocks they are mounted to(where possible) and remounting them, dipping, and moving them into a system...

    Calfo please help. Mixed advice on flatworms.

    The largest room in my house is filled with aquariums and in the next year I plan on moving into a green house. I decided a long time ago that aquaculture is what I was going to do for a living. A couple months ago I came upon a dilemma which I have been struggling with sine. Most of my...

    ATI = Giesemann?

    How high off the water should the T5s be mounted? Currently I am setting up three T5s over a 30g tank. Thanks.

    Sun Coral Propagation

    I thought you were supposed to feed a lot more then that. Unless you feed a lot of other things in your tank daily and there is just food in the water, which you should mention. Jon

    Sun Coral not wanting to feed.....

    I didn't mean that the whole thread was a repeat, so that second post of mine which originally was the same as the first. Either Reef Frontiers or my browswer messed up and even after I posted the content was still listed in my message so I thought it hadn't gone through and I posted again...

    Why is there no way to delete repeat posts?

    Sun Coral not wanting to feed.....

    Difficult to define low to moderate flow, but it may like a little higher flow. What is the etc. in your different foods? Have you tried mysis shrimp? Sun coral is capable of taking in things from photo plankton up to mysis shrimp which it loves. If it doesn't open up with mysis shrimp...

    Need help picking drill for use with diamond bits.

    I think I am going to drill threw an old broken 10g tank I have using the drill I have then try out drilling a couple of 10gs I wanted to drill. I have a friend who has offered to let me borrow his drill and I think I may just do that for the large tanks.(40 breeders) Thanks everyone for the...

    Need help picking drill for use with diamond bits.

    As the title states I need to pick out a drill that I can use to drill holes in glass. I already have the drill bits I need, but I have a feeling my little battery operated 9.6V "skil drill" which is basicly an electic screw driver will not do the job. I don't have a lot of experience with power...

    ATI = Giesemann?

    Awesome bit of info. Thank you very much. Just before you posted I called Reefgeek and was told they were the same company, but two years ago split. One quick question I have left for you would be where to get reflectors. I already have an ice cap ballast and 4 reflectors and end cap...

    ATI = Giesemann?

    Simple question is Giesemann the same thing as ATI? Someone recommended to me that I use a couple of ATI bulbs at different color temps and I have seen some websites that make ATI and Giesemann seem like the same thing(possibly misplaced graffic) and others seem to keep them separate. I am...

    PVC to air line for dripping.

    I wanted to find a way to convert from PVC to air line so I can set up a drip acclimator at an LFS I just started working at last month. I suppose what I am looking for is some sort of T like the one pictured on this page, but I know I won't be able to use brass fittings as it will have salt...
