    Urchin Identity?

I posted a couple of weeks ago about this little guy. I have gotten differing advice as to wether to remove him from the tank. Anyhow, now I have pictures of him and wanted to post them to see if anyone could tell me what type of urchin it is. It has doubled in size in just two weeks. Now he...

To change or not to Change from CC to SB for Substrate

We were using the type of syphon where you had to prime it by raising it up and down quickly in the water to get the water moving however, I found one where it is hand pumped and I am hoping it will work better. We are going to try it this weekend. I think the problem is and correct me if I am...

To change or not to Change from CC to SB for Substrate

This is how we got really frustrated with the CC. We tried to syphon and it didn't seem to do anything but make a mess of the tank, stir a bunch of stuff up and remove lots of water really fast  . How do you syphon so that it actually removes the build up?

To change or not to Change from CC to SB for Substrate

The baby urchin appeared on its own and we think it was a hitchhiker. As for the other stuff that is what our LFS recommended. That is why we are getting so frustrated because the more research we do the more questions we have. However, we don't plan on adding any thing else to the tank until...

To change or not to Change from CC to SB for Substrate

Okay...We really screwed up and should have done a lot more planning and research before buying/setting up our tank. However, there isn't much we can do about it now so we just have to move forward. Here is our current dilemma:  We currently have CC/Shell as our...

    Lighting Advice...

Okay we are prepared to upgrade our lighting and can't decide what we should get. We don't plan on having corals. We do want to try a few anemones and a variety of fish. We have live rock in the tank also. I have tried to research the issue but it is all a bit overwhelming. We have a 75g...

Urchin and Live Rock Input Please

We have discovered we have a baby urchin in our tank. It probably was a hitchhiker in the live rock. Anyhow, I believe it is a purple urchin. It is about the size of a quarter right now. We mentioned this to the LFS this weekend and they freaked out and told us to take it out immediately...

    Let's Play...What is this?

This might be a dumb question, but here it goes. I have looked into getting a sump, price and size etc. One of the problems we have is that we are limited on space. However, I think I have found one that would work. But what I am confused about is once you have the sump/refug does that mean...

    Let's Play...What is this?

We don't have a refugium to move him to. We are fairly new at all of this and only have our tank. Though my husband said we do have a Porcelain safe house for those that don't meet our needs... Now we do have two emeralds in the tank so I guess one could have given birth or it may have...

    Let's Play...What is this?

I hope you all don't get tired of me... Here is my latest discovery. There are shots that show the underside of the "creature' and then shots that show the top of it... My husband thinks it is a baby crab of some sort...I just don't know.

What is this?...Everytime I look I find something else...

Ali, Yes, it looks exactly like your first picture. The one at the bottom of the picture that is black in the middle and orange on the ends. If you have a lot of these in your tank does that mean they aren't "bad". Do I need to be concerned??? Thanks for the pictures. Deb
