    Mouse's 125 peninsula dream + 2

No need to keep the sps high in the tank. I've got sps doing just fine nearly on the bottom of my tank and it's 23" high. That's just with a nova pro. An ATI powermodule will work on 30" tanks.

    Skinz's 12g nano.

That orange crush, was that from jnarowe's tank?

    converting to T5's

That above listed website on post #20 is actually GrimReefer's webpage. He's done A LOT of testing with various bulbs and various fixtures.

Anyone run a nano-tank without heaters?

So why are you asking whether you need a heater when it sounds like you need a fan? Get yourself some egg crate or some window screen and pop open the small opening. Then throw a fan over the thing.

How do you like that 3k? I went with a 6.5k just for the par. To me it yellows the tank out a bit. Have you tried switching the aquablue with the front blue plus? That should take some of the blue away from your view. Either that or switch it out for a UVL 75/25. In reality you don't have...

    converting to T5's

It's not like that with t5 bulbs. I've never seen a 20k bulb per say in t5's. They are named something like aquablue which is equal to a 12k bulb or 75/25 which is around 14k, but I've never seen a 20k t5 bulb. I would go with an aquablue, 2 blue +'s and maybe a fiji purple or true actinic...

If anything, alternate them, but make sure a blue is in the first position. What fixture do you have?

Vorteck pump VS. wave rotation device or a wave box for SPS system

If it did, I think my little 5.5g occupants would have been dead by now. I used a krylon plastics paint on the dividers for the fuge/return. It's been running fine now for about a month and a half or so.

Anyone run a nano-tank without heaters?

How much fluctuation are you getting? Fish can take a gradual drop of several degrees. I ran my 29g biocube without a heater for several months. During the day it would be around 80 and first thing in the morning when I'd kick on the lights it would be around 75. The ocean doesn't stay a...

    Going skimmerless

True, but it's not a plastic cylinder with a pump blowing air and water into it.

    Red sea max

Yeah, if the rock is fine, forget about the boiling and ditto with what scooter said.

    14gal BioCube startup advice

I wouldn't go with a catalina goby. They're a cold water species and unless you can keep the tank in the mid 60's to low 70's don't do it. You could go with an ocellaris clownfish and some sort of small goby or blenny. Maybe a green banded goby or a 2 spot blenny. Both of those stay very...

    CRABS

So you're basically in between a nano and a medium sized tank. I would probably go with a mithrax crab. Most of the time you see green ones, but once in a while you'll find red or black. The red ones are pretty neat looking I think. That's probably a bit too big for a pom pom or porcelain...

    Red sea max

2 ways of going about this. You could pull all the rock and boil it. Clean out the tank, put new sand in it and the boiled rock along with new water and restart the tank. Toss a shrimp in it and wait for the tank to cycle. This is gonna take you a couple weeks to a month for the tank to...

    CRABS

Several. How big of a tank are we talking about? You could go with porcelain crabs or pom pom crabs if you have a smaller tank. They tend to get lost in bigger tanks because they usually only come out at night or when feeding. If the tank is bigger, green/red/black mithrax crabs or sally...

    Light shimmer

It is just a 48" and therefore doesn't cover the whole tank like you said, but that doesn't explain why it's showing up in the whole tank. You can't really see it in the vid, but it's up near the top of the tank right underneath the light fixture. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever seen...

    Going skimmerless

I know another guy that likes the natural way of keeping tanks. He's had a sw tank going for 5 years now skimmerless. He doesn't keep sps, only lps and softies. Looking forward to this test.

    Light shimmer

No dings in any reflectors, but that's an interesting theory. It's the whole tank that has the shimmer. This is the first time I've ever seen it. I wonder if it's the added depth of the water cause there is a definite difference on the sand from the 75g and the 125g. Even though it's only 2...

    Light shimmer

It's a nova extreme pro. No supplemental lighting and no LED's. I took a video with my camera, but it's pretty hard to see it once it was uploaded to photobucket. I can make it out. When it first starts, you can see it in the water up near the light then on the sand you can see it as well.
