    New tank questions

Wow, I doubt you need to spend $25 for bacteria. Put a piece of dead shrimp meat in it, let it rot and bacteria would grow just fine. If you have any die off on the rocks that would do the job also I had rocks that were dried on and off in a tub with no light for a year. They all turned white...

    Midas Blenny

Got a midas blenny this weekend and I have to say it has became my favorite fish already. It has beautiful peach and yellow coloring, lyre tail and eel-like movement. It likes to perch like a blenny and the way it folds it tail sideway reminds me of a mermaid. I am so glad I got ahold of one...

    question about salt creep

Is it normal to make salt creep in places that should not even get wet? I noticed I'd get salt creep at the top edge of my glass tank sump, on the power cables of the heaters and on the drip hose. I don't think they are getting wet, and I thought only water evaporates and leaving all the salt in...

    maroon clown

I understand maroon is pretty aggressive, I am wondering how bad it is? Does it chase others all over the tank or does it usually stay in a small area and defend it instead. Is it better with or without an anenome? What other clowns host with bubble tip anenome? I am thinking about true...

    Replacing/Repairing sump

Thanks. Since the sump still work at this point I am going to wait. I'd prefer to try to get a new glass tank and make a new sump and just swap it out. It is certainly good to know in case I cannot find a tank I should have 1-2 days to repair mine.

    Replacing/Repairing sump

The baffle in my sump broke (it was 2 pieces of acrylic glued together, don't ask why :( ) Is there any safe way to glue acrylic under water, i.e. no chemical leakage? If not then I'd need to take the sumpout to replace the baffle. How long can the main tank last without skimmer? I can put a...

    Stuck Heater!

Well, good news is that all livestocks recovered nicely. However I noticed my sump is messed up and my water level is much lower than it is suppose to be, so half on the heater is exposed to air. That may have broke the heater :(

    Stuck Heater!

nod. I noticed the temp is coming down faster than I'd like, so I removed the ice pack soon after. Never use old heater, time to buy 2 smaller good ones too :( Any suggestion on a good brand?

    Stuck Heater!

Argh, my heater was stuck on last night and this morning my tank is at 87 degree! I unplugged the heater and put in a small ice pack in it. Would it coll the tank down too fast? (60 gallon) How bad is this? Normal temp is 80

    coral placement

Underwater epoxy is permanant is it not? Is there something that's more semi-permanant (secure but removable?) Never know when I need to move/remove a coral Thanks

    coral placement

I have a question about how to place corals, namely LPS. Is it important to place it such that the soft tissues do not touch any rocks? (I think I read about it somewhere) I am having trouble placing them, I tried to place it such that the skeleton (not the base skeleton) is off the rocks, but...

    The Use Of mirrors?

I thought about using reflective mylar (TAP plastic in bellevue has them) Seems better than foil and might be easier to work with than glass

    aquaC EV-120 blowing bubbles/not skimming!

I have the EV-180 and I use their highest recommended pump to run it. Turned out that pump is too powerful and I cannot adjust it using their instruction at all. I had to use the air valve to adjust the skimmer instead. I thought it was odd that they recommend a pump that is too much for the...

Anyone have experience/comments with this site: www.thelebos.com? It sells both parts and completed moonlight even how-to plan. It looks rather interesting to me.

    Macroalgae

I tried to remove as much buds as possible, there are lots. Did not use a screwdriver tho, the buds are rather small, unless I am suppose to dig out chunks of rock with it. I use a stiff toothbrush instead. We'll see if they come back, if so out come my butane torch! Thanks Mike.

    Macroalgae

I have so many question now that my tank is actually up and going. I noticed on one piece of my rock some macroalgae is starting to grow. I cannot tell what they are yet because the are still small buds (just a little green stick looking thing about 1/4" long) I am a little surprised since my...
