    Alternative Reactor Media

Hey Mike, I finally got some of this calcium media and tested it. I have a 175 gallon reef that has been running ROWAlith C+ in a Deltec PF509 Calcium Reactor. I cleaned out the reactor and put about 3 inches of the media in the reactor and placed it back in operation on the aquarium...

Any input on how to quiet down my skimmer?

I have lots of them and they don't make that much noise to me. Make sure the impeller is clean and that the hole in the inducer that the air tube is attached to is not blocked. I run a drill bit through the hole to make sure it is wide open.

    Calcium Reactor Media (South Sound)

Just a reminder that if the calcium level is much above 400-450, your ROWAphos will harden.

Do you use a Phosphate Remover?

The statement "Remember, Feed your Fish, Not your Algae" refers to being able to really feed your aquarium, but not worrying about the excess food helping to grow algae. Phosphate is the leading enrichment for most algae. Phosphate is also very high in most foods. If you look at a bag of...

Do you use a Phosphate Remover?

I am always intrigued when someone states they don't have a phosphate issue. I have never tested aquarium water that did not have phosphates to be equal to or lower then the recommend 0.03 as per our Merck test kits. I have tested freshly mixed saltwater that had higher readings. The one...

    Cheap carbon?

If one of the LFS in your area is interested, maybe we could work out something on ROWAcarbon. It's not the cheapest, but quality never is.

    Nitrites came back????

something has changed in your aquarium. you added a lot of fish or something large like a clam died which pushed up the ammonia levels. What can also happen is that if you don't have anything in the tank producing ammonia, the bacteria that feeds on ammonia and produces nitrites are OK, but...

Are there any bird lovers in this forum?

We have a cinnamon pearl cockatiel. she is very spoiled and has the run of the house. I can't bring myself to have her wings clipped. I figure she is a bird and birds fly. She did get out one day and it took us over an hour to find her, but she was pretty freaked out when we did finally find...

    phosban reactor

I am not sure what pump you are using, but I have used the Hydor L20 on the Kent reactors. The nice thing about these pumps is they have a built in flow control and a prefilter sponge. I ensure no pH drop, a very slow flow is recommended to start.

    phosban reactor

Hello All. About the difference between Phosban and ROWAphos, there is a study report you can read on our web site that will answer that question. About the amount to use in a reactor, that depends on how often you want to service the reactor. No mater the reactor, I fill it half way. I...

    phosphate problem

If the refugium is working properly, then I would believe you are now left with a phosphate problem. Sounds like a good test kit is in order.

    Calcium reactor media!!!!!!

Chris&Barb, I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your Deltec reactor, but it will not work well with ARM. If you check the Deltec forum on RC(sorry guys), you will see lots of people have not had the best of luck with ARM. Also, you could have trouble getting any help from...
