Nitrites came back????

I had nitrites when i started the tank and know that it has been 3 months i havent seen a sign of any and now today i see that it is at 3.0 in the strees level and whanted to know why and also my anthali has disapered off the rock like it was never there....

something has changed in your aquarium. you added a lot of fish or something large like a clam died which pushed up the ammonia levels. What can also happen is that if you don't have anything in the tank producing ammonia, the bacteria that feeds on ammonia and produces nitrites are OK, but the bacteria that feeds on nitrites and gives off nitrates has been compromised. The natural balance has been upset is some fashion.
