    ICE Cap 660 applications

The most you can wire is 4 bulbs. You will need another ballast for the additional 2 bulbs.

    Bubble coral & frogspawn placement

The frogspawn likes medium flow and medium light. I have mine about 3/4 the way down in my 75 under 440 watts of vho lighting and it loves it. Not sure about the bubble coral as I do not have one. Here are a couple pics of my frogspawn.

    vho or mh

Beaches in maine are just like all the others I think. The only difference being the water might be a tad colder than you are used too. Last week we went to the beach and water temp was around 64 degrees. Here are a couple of pictures when we went to the beach last week. Enjoy...

    vho or mh

The growth with t-5 may be a little slower but I like the look you can get with the different choices in bulbs and you can get some great par. Also the heat issue is negated as t-5's give off way less heat than MH. Also replacing the bulbs is about the same cost wise but in the long run you can...

    vho or mh

Hello, Just a thought but why not go with t-5's. You can grow just as much under a good t-5 setup and avoid the cost of MH, less heat, Longer bulb life, and just about the only thing you would miss is the shimmer effect from MH. Just my .02 cents worth....

    Phosphate

Yes the blenny stirring the sand could be the cause. I would never reuse the old sand in a new tank unless you are going the rinse it. In the end it will cause a tank crash and more problems in the long run. You could use a little of the old live sand to jump start the new but that would be...

    Clam lighting

Unfortunately returnsofid I have seen them kept under vho lighting and they do very well. I have e fellow reefer that kept a derasa under PC lighting for over a year until he was able to upgrade and it did well. In that years time it almost doubled in size. He kept it about half way up the tank...

    fragging toadstool leather

Hello, It should not be a problem at all. They will grow a new cap within a few months. I had a problem with mine and had to cut it and now have a new baby started. http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l111/prbhasson/toadstool001.jpg...

    Fiberglass in tank - Question?

You should be fine. I used the driveway markers to do mine. Same stuff, Fiberglass rod, and i just cut them to the sizes I needed. Drilled holes in the rocks how I wanted them and put them together. Works great and no more falling rocks!!!

    Anemone Splitting !!!

It took about and hour and a half total time. It was pretty amazing to be able to see it. I have read about others splitting and everyone said they are either asleep when it happens or not home. My clown fish is still confused right now. she does not know which one she wants to be with. She has...

Hello all, Just wanted to post a couple of pics of my anemone splitting. I happened to be walking by the tank and it shocked me. I looked and sure enough he is splitting. My Clown is going crazy trying to figure out what is going on. I will try to post more pics when he has completed his journey...

    Blenny?

Also look at the Bi-Color Blenny. They are fun to watch. very personable and eat like little pigs. The only thing I have found with them is if you get another type of blenny they will pick on them... Good Luck

    Dying Foxface?

Sherman, It sounds similar to the problem I had with my Algae blenny. The first couple of months he seemed o.k. but as time went on he got skinnier and skinnier. He would eat Nori and pellets. I searched and searched trying to find the problem but he ended up in fishy heaven. The only thing to...

    septic

It can hurt your septic system if you do frequent water changes. I just found out this fall. I had to have a new leach field put in because the saltwater kills bacteria needed to break down the waste and in time kills your leach field. It cost me $5,800 to replace it. WOW, I Now know not to do...

    How do I feed this

I feed mine about once a week. You can try feeding at night. Mine eats any time I put food in now. At first my damsel would try to take the food but once I gave him a good smack with a net he stays away. Also, you might want to try to move it to the bottom of the tank on the sand bed. They like...

Where do I start? (current Question)

If you want any corals at all you will want a power head or two. You want at least 10 - 20X turnover in the tank and the 325 going through the sump should be fine. Get a decent skimmer, don't skimp on that and lighting... Check out the new to reefing section and you will find alot of info....
