Hi I have a 32 gallon tank, 2 percs and I was looking to purchase 2 new fish. One of the fish I was looking at was the Scooter Blenny. I was wondering about there reputation? And if anyone can suggest a colorfull and fun to look at fish for a new addition to my tank. Thanks:)

I think scooters can be very delicate. They are alot like a mandrin in that they eat pods and need a very established system with a refugium for adequate food supply for survival.

i have a scooter with no fuge he eats frozen food with vitamines is looking very healthy had him bout 8 months he's a star blenny is such a false term for this fish as it is a dragonet i have a false gramma in my 32 and a falco hawk fish and a pair of maroon clowns
a true blenny would be a good addition u could get away with adding 3 or 4 yellow gobys or clown gobys or 4 differnt coulred ones eg. green yellow black and blue striped goby

Blenny's are so cool!! My Scooter was one of the first in my system and has done just fine. I put some well established rock in the tank also before adding fish. A Bi-Color or Red Lipped Blenny would be good ones also. My Red Lipped actually will bite my finger when I put it in the water. Just once tho. I think he is showing me affection.;)

I have 2 scooter blennies in my 90g. As noted above, they are really from the dragonet family and not from the blenny family. Based on that, it's my understanding that it's best to have a good pod population to keep them well fed. The 2 that I have are not the most colorful, but fun to watch, as they constantly are moving around looking for food.

I used to have a bicolor blenny in my 45g, but unfortunately lost him during the recent power outage :(. I have since replaced him with a tailspot blenny, and although smaller than the bicolor, he has a great personality like the bicolor did, has some nice colors, and has been a great tankmate to the other fish I have (2 clowns, 2 bangaii cardinals, sixline wrasse).

Also look at the Bi-Color Blenny. They are fun to watch. very personable and eat like little pigs. The only thing I have found with them is if you get another type of blenny they will pick on them... Good Luck

just going to say again a scooter blenny is no a blenny i would like to start a petiotion to change it to scooter dragonet

not to steal this thread but I was thinking about getting a lawnmower blennie to help with a little micro algae problem I'm having...what does everyone think of those?

Just keep in mind that if you don't have a good supply of algae, you'll have to supplement feeding. Sometimes it's kind of difficult to get them to eat from algae clips and the like. I've got one and it does great. I have enough algae to keep him well fed and in case the tank runs out, I've got a QT with a baseball sized rock with a good supply of algae. I swap it out now and then to keep the blenny in algae.

Unfortunatly I have quite a bit to keep it fed right now.....lol... That algae rock idea sounds good
